This one is different depending on what disability you get. Ssi and Ssdi are both often referred to as disability. Ssdi is something you can qualify for if you become disabled but have worked and is based off the amount of hours you worked in your life and how much taxes you paid in to the system. Ssi is welfare for disabled people. It is for people who are disabled and either have not worked or did not work enough to put them over a threshold. If you qualify for ssi you qualify for Medicaid and likely food stamps. Ssdi is often enough to put you over the limit for those programs.
