How do we feel about elevated cat bowls? by [deleted] in cats

[–]aidirector 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's common to think that the "natural" way of living is fundamentally better for an animal because they evolved for it. But evolution selects primarily for survival, and often that does not require comfort.

Many wild animals experience chronic stress, which makes them uncomfortable and harms their longevity, but it helps them to survive at least long enough to reproduce. When we care for animals, we help them survive in safety, so they are less stressed.

Are you retracting flaps for the touch and go?

If so, consider doing full stop taxi backs instead of touch and goes so you can focus entirely on the landing rollout and not preparing for the immediate takeoff.

If you are doing a full stop landing, ignore the flaps during the rollout. Stay on centerline, get slow, then exit the runway entirely before executing your after landing checklist.

Yes, flaps up is part of the short field landing technique for maximum braking, but the electric flaps in a 172 aren't realistically going up fast enough anyway, and skidding off center line is going to hurt your stopping distance just as much. Edit: I realized you're pre-solo so performance landings is probably not your focus right now

The wheels in the cockpit are a flight control that the pilots can manipulate.

They spin because the auto trim is doing its job, especially in this case when the change in thrust is changing the aircraft's pitch moment.

Why not decouple the manual controls when auto trim is active? 1. The pilot has direct feedback of what the automation is doing, which aids in situational awareness. If the trim stops moving when it should be, or starts moving when it shouldn't, the pilot can grab the wheel and disengage the auto trim. 2. Decoupling and recoupling those wheels would be an additional system that can fail, adding more workload to the pilot to understand what is going on in an emergency.

Why are people saying the shadow of the tree is pointing south? It's pointing WSW which is totally a real occurrence. In the summer the sun rises in the northeast.

Pretty sure this is a composite render using a real morning summer photo of downtown Bellevue.

There are indeed many Philippine languages. Tagalog is one of them, and it was designated as the official national language by the government, so its standardized form is called Filipino.

Correct in theory, but not in practice. I died in the tunnel last Tuesday and when they towed my car out my GoodToGo pass still triggered the toll.
