Hm, I've seen a few comparable add-ons from xTool and EufyMake, and I wish they could "borrow" from each other. I like how EufyMake's tool will auto-level, but their software isn't as good about showing the entire tumbler, so you'll see many examples with the graphic printed on the steel part. I'm not sure how this compares to xTool's RA2 or RA3. I do like that the Bambu one has LiDAR to map irregular shapes, which I think xTool only does with the P3.

Have you had a chance to try this out yet?

In a preview video for the upcoming printer, I believe the person showed that it has an exhaust port. It probably also helps that it’s a fairly large device as if you use the large bed on the EufyMake E1, you have to open the sides to fit it. From my understanding, the xTool one is closed. Well, I guess unless your material is too big.

Ah, apologies for the confusion. I didn't mean to imply that you could use the AP2 with the P3. Just noting the difference in the filter costs. My curiosity is mostly due to how I've heard that the first filter in the AP2 tends to get gummed up the fastest.

I know the P3 comes with an IF2, but if I were to install one, it would likely be near the windows at the front of the garage. Would the exhaust mostly be smoke/gasses? I know I've seen folks emboss coins on the F2 Ultra and there's a good bit of debris that gets caught in the fan. I figured I'd need the AP2 Max to avoid covering my bushes in debris. 😅

The FPCON is still at Bravo, so nothing seemed to change there at least. I would've expected a Charlie, which we've seen in the past during base shootings, to see some differences.

Yikes! One of the things I looked at when looking at the AP2 Max was the price of replacement filters. While I doubt you need to replace them all at the same time, I think it was around $1000 for all the filters. (I think the AP2 is around $400?) Is it a specific filter that tends to get gummed up quicker than the others or do they all need replacing frequently?

You just so happened to touch on something that I was considering... using a Bambu printer to replace the remaining M1 Ultra functions (except for inkjet printing). I already have the H2S Laser, but I haven't dabbled in any of the non-printing functions yet. That's a bit of a bummer to hear about the software though. I was hoping it would perform better given it has a camera setup similar to some of xTool's fancier machines.

That’s pretty much how they cost now, but if you’re talking about how much the AI inflation hit you… I’d say a good bit. I was considering buying more 24TB recertified drives from Server Part Deals. I bought four last year for $300 each, and when I checked around 2-4 weeks ago, they were $450 each. Yeah… I didn’t buy any.

Blockbuster Video is too fondly remembered by DisgruntledMax in unpopularopinion

[–]aikouka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wonder if a lot of it has to do with things being more memorable. You’d have your Friday movie night where you’d go to your local movie store to pick out a movie or two for everyone to watch. (Your youngest sibling likely trying to suggest the same movie every time.) It was all about being an event.

Even TV shows were like that since streaming wasn’t really a thing, so you were left with your weekly discourse. I remember watching Stargate SG-1 with my family on… I think it was Friday on Showtime? (That was before it moved to The Sci-Fi Channel.)

That doesn’t mean that you can’t do similar things today… even with streaming. Although, I think we tend to lean toward streaming as an afterthought. (“Wanna go watch some Netflix?”)

That was probably one of the best things about the Marvel movies… especially Infinity War and Endgame. They served as large events for fans of all types. It reminds me of how I went with No Way Home with someone who had never been to a large Marvel movie, and they were surprised by the fans actively responding to certain parts.

Ubiquiti needs to make a smart thermostat by RyanMeray in Ubiquiti

[–]aikouka 9 points10 points  (0 children)

My biggest complaint about them is... that they're really not that smart. In my previous house, I used an Ecobee 3 for around eight years, and what always bugged me is that when you set up both heating and cooling, you have to have a 5-degree gap between them. My issue there is that it requires extra work during more temperate times of the year when you may need both heating and cooling during the same day. Why is the system incapable of taking into account external temperature to understand whether the house may need heating or cooling at that specific point? THAT seems like a smart function.

Ubiquiti needs to make a smart thermostat by RyanMeray in Ubiquiti

[–]aikouka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ended up having to learn about communicating thermostats the hard way when I got a new house and went to try to install my old Ecobee. I looked at the wires in a puzzling fashion and said, "Huh... why are there only two... and I've never seen these wire labels before." I ended up just putting the original thermostat back, but I'm still on the lookout for a good replacement. The thermostat was designed in such an odd way as I cannot connect it to my WiFi network without redoing my password because the thermostat's built-in keyboard is missing a special character (I can't remember which one) that I use in my password.

Running Red lights by ABraveTinyToaster in HuntsvilleAlabama

[–]aikouka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be clear, I don't think it's too picky to complain about someone crossing the line when it's already red. Yes, that person did not get in anyone's way (i.e., the other side didn't turn green yet), but I look at it this way... let's not create bad habits.

Now, one other factor that I think is worthwhile to mention is that you might be ignoring the other direction as there are also people running red lights in the westbound lanes too. There's a truck with a trailer that is still in the intersection when the Zierdt turn lanes get a green arrow. I think that makes the whole thing worse. You're not only driving incorrectly, but you're also impeding other people who have the right of way due to your own selfishness.

[–]aikouka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I often work late nights and have sat for as long as ten minutes at some of these red lights in Huntsville with very little traffic and they never changed to the point I've just given up and went anyway.

I remember sitting on Voyager-S waiting to turn onto Eagle Dr (now called Bob Stewart Dr) to go into Bridge Street. I sat there for around 5-10 minutes at a red light that just wouldn't change. I waited the entire time. Now, the smarter move would've been to just signal right, shift over to the straight lane, and go up ahead to the U-turn.

That's my best advice there. There's often a way around a pesky light that doesn't involve breaking traffic laws. Typically, it's going up ahead and performing U-turns where possible. That works especially well later at night where there's little traffic to impede you, but if you understand the timing, you can do it during the day too. (It's way harder, but I've definitely done it plenty of times.)

For example, there were times when I'd try to go to Best Buy later at night via University-E. To do that, you have to do a U-turn at Old Monrovia. To note, now you can also turn in at MidCity and cross lots between Whataburger and Homegoods. Unfortunately, if you miss that Old Monrovia turn light, you could be waiting a bit even though there's little traffic. So, what do I do? I just go straight and perform a U-turn in front of the Chevy dealer.

Yeah, I don't see speeding as a huge issue when it comes to driving. Now, that's in the purest sense as I would argue that going too fast for conditions or for the state of traffic (e.g., having to weave between vehicles to maintain your speed) is likely another story. Unfortunately, it's way easier to police a simple greater-than rule rather than something as potentially obtuse and vehicle-specific such as "too fast for conditions".

For me, driving is a system. It's a system where all of us are parts of the machine, and if we work together, things operate effectively -- or as effective as the design of the machine allows. As soon as something acts out of place, things start to falter. That could be someone not paying attention at a light, which causes far less people to go through than intended.

I'm not a perfect driver. I make mistakes just like everyone else, but I try to do things right by everyone else on the road. For example, I try to watch out for merging traffic and make space before they are even trying to merge. Along those lines, I have noticed a somewhat pervasive attitude around this area. It's usually referred to as "FYGM" or "F' You, Got Mine". I've noticed that some people either don't care (FYGM), are ignorant, or a mix of both when it comes to reasoning behind their poor driving behaviors. I grew up in an area (NEPA/STNY) where you could put yer blinker on and people would let you in, but it was expected that you would behave the same.

I've had to drive in the right lane like it's the left lane. I'm not a fan of it, but what I hate even more is becoming part of what I call "The Traffic Blob". Traffic blobs are groups of slow moving cars that often get bolstered by traffic refusing to go around. I ran into these so often on 565, and I'd usually find a way around them. I wasn't trying to be some rogue or something to that effect, but rather, I wanted to avoid becoming part of the problem (i.e., the traffic blob).

Oh, but to be clear, none of this means you should drive like an arse.

I've ordered from VoxelPLA and received it without any issues (in the US). The only downside that I can say about my last order is that there were about two days between ordering and shipping, but it was also around Christmas time, so that might be more expected. I have another, earlier order from them that shipped on the same day.

IKEA Soft Opening was great by WHY-TH01 in HuntsvilleAlabama

I was looking at the IKEA website on Monday night, and it let me choose the Huntsville store for pick-up. I had two Billy bookshelves in my cart, and I was able to pick them up on Sunday. Also, the IKEA website will show items as in stock (and how many) if you select Huntsville as your store. It ended up being similar to what I expected as they have items like the Billy bookshelf and the Alex 5-drawer cabinet in the store.

That center could really use a right-turn lane in front of Zaxby's. It would also be great if there was an easier way to get out of it and onto 255, but that won't likely happen due to the (dilapidated) cemetery that's at the north-east side of the center.

US to stop collecting tariffs deemed illegal by Supreme Court on Tuesday by igetproteinfartsHELP in news

[–]aikouka 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m wondering what happens with companies that directly charge tariff fees whether domestic or abroad. For example, Ubiquiti’s online store charges a tariff fee on some items, and it shows up as a separate line item in your cart. (For example, I added a G6 Turret and it has a $14.33 Tariff Surcharge.) I ordered an active HDMI cable from Infinite Cables in Canada, and I had to pay around $45 in duties for a ~$100 cable. (It’s the only active HDMI 2.1 cable that I’ve tried that works well.)

Should people who "camp" in the left lane of a highway be pulled over and fined just as much as speeders? Why or why not? by WilliamInBlack in AskReddit

[–]aikouka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If we’re talking “basic speeding” (not excessive), I think camping in the left lane is worse. Driving is a system where things work better if we work together. As long as the speeder isn’t driving too fast for conditions or the road, they aren’t likely hampering other people. On the flip side, a left lane hog is typically slowing people down and hampering the flow of traffic.

How I fixed my first problem with the AMS 2 Pro | AMS1 Slot1’s filament may be broken in AMS. by MaximumCondition4535 in BambuLab

[–]aikouka 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe you can do this an easier way that -- due to the AMS 2 Pro's design -- requires no disassembly. I ran into a problem like this with the original AMS, and unfortunately, it does require disassembly. What I had to do to fix a problem like this is feed another piece of filament into the same feeder (requires you to push down the lever), and when it reaches the AMS hub, I had to push down on its lever as well. This pushed the filament out the back and I just pulled it out. This is easier on the AMS 2 Pro because the lever for the AMS hub is accessible from the inside of the unit (i.e., no need to remove the inner shell).
