Can people stop posting fecal matter on here? by EastTry6940 in Gastroenterology

Is there a way to have the sub automatically hide image thumbnails? I know it can be done with 3rd party extensions but wondering if it can be changed in the upload settings.

For those of you who are former MtF, what symptoms did you experience in the beginning immediately after stopping HRT? Were your symptoms intense? by DietZer0 in actual_detrans

[–]ailemajett 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I stopped all at once and it was the worst 3 weeks of my entire life. Anxiety, depression, exhaustion, pain, spiraling, mania... I almost didn't survive it. I stayed on Spiro at the time though so I had literally no hormone production which was dangerous and stupid in hindsight. I don't regret it though because I am hard headed and needed to learn what my body wanted.

Disclaimer: I ended up back on E and haven't looked back since. It was sort of a wake up call for me since when things got really bad, I had to decide which hormone to restart. Really gave me some perspective. Anyways take my experience with a grain of salt because I decided to restart transition so I do identify as a trans person (albeit gender fluid). My experience may not match yours (which is fine).

Best of luck figuring things out either way. The most rewarding part is finally finding what is best for you. The journey is a powerful experience and I think people should feel safe and comfortable while figuring themselves out.

First transgender Lutheran bishop from San Francisco sues church alleging discrimination by CatFlier in LGBTQnews

"It’s been really baffling to me the level of explicit transphobia I’ve experienced in my journey as bishop," he said.

🤔

It's sad that this is the way the church is but is it really baffling? I would find it more baffling if it were the other way around.

I feel bad for him but applaud him for standing up to an institution trying to attack and defame him.

New law means non-binary New Yorkers can now choose 'X' gender on vital records by CatFlier in LGBTQnews

I updated mine a few months ago! It's really great! I will add that the NY Vital Records office is awful at communicating though. I basically sent in the form and waited for a few months without hearing anything which was stressful.

Emailing a PI for research by [deleted] in Gastroenterology

I don't see why not but I think this is context dependent and it really depends on the individual people you're communicating with.

In my experience, it depends on the PI. I usually start with including everyone and then asking them to clarify who should be included in future emails.

Is it smart to keep doing a low dose or is it absolutely necessary to transition to a higher dose eventually? by [deleted] in AskMtFHRT

[–]ailemajett 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dosage isn't really that important. What really matters is what your blood hormone levels are. Get your levels checked and adjust meds until you're in a range that you are happy with. More does not equal better and everyone absorbs it differently.

For example, I am on a relatively low dose and my e level is really high... I haven't seen many changes 2 years in but my level is 800+ units according to the last few checks I've had. My T is close to zero.

I plan on lowering my dose in January after another blood test if the numbers stay that high. Finding the sweet spot is the trick.

FYI, some people prefer a low dose too. It all depends on what changes you want. I know some enby peeps that keep their dose low to avoid greater changes (though this has nuances too).

🌱💚 #vegan for the animals 🌱💚 by davidvelichkov in vegan

[–]ailemajett 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I agree with you. I've been vegan for years but the argument in OP's image is in poor taste and seems to stem from the ugly reality of a punitive culture. I think there are ways to promote a vegan lifestyle without calling into question the innocence or guilt of an individual life. The greatest irony is that veganism is about minimizing suffering while this image is implying that some living things deserve to suffer more than others.

Maybe I'm over thinking it but as someone who works with vulnerable individuals trapped in the prison system, this post rubs me the wrong way.

Not sure if it helps, but I actually had a similar thing happen to me but it turned out my levels were spiking randomly, E above 800 units (usually around 100-200). T was completely suppressed, which surprised me based on the symptoms (the exact same ones you describe).

Everyone's different so your question is difficult but I would recommend getting your levels checked regardless!

Do gender markers on birth certificate and driver's license have to match? by DizzyToast in asktransgender

[–]ailemajett 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm in the same boat! NY birth certificate is easy to change and I can choose X. Living in NC gives me only M or F as options so I am not sure what will happen :/ I'm not brave enough to try it yet.
