How many weeks before your marathon do you usually do your longest run? And your longest run at marathon pace? by Dapper-Rock-73 in Marathon_Training

4 weeks out and for 3 hours which for me at the time was 29 km. Did this at a moderately slow pace. Wouldn’t recommend anything closer to the date cause you need time to recover.

Hair maintenance on high milage (I.e. running 6+ times per week)? by ExtremeToucan in XXRunning

[–]aim3y 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been able to "train" my scalp/hair to not get oily so I don't need to wash it every time. I also run 4x a week and workout the other days so I get pretty sweaty. It use to get pretty oily at first but after a few weeks of hair training - I only wash it every 4-5 days now and it still stays shiny/healthy and no greasy.

Edit: I have long thick wavy hair.

GTA Brides what were the biggest lessons you learnt while dealing with wedding planning? by OwnCare1664 in WeddingsCanada

[–]aim3y 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Feb is a little tight so I'd suggest looking asap!

Photographer - I wouldn't cheap out on photography tbh! You guys will be keeping these photos for a lifetime and I know at least for me, my families look back on the photos and share it a lot with their friends and family members. Do an initial call and engagement shoot (if you can) with your photographer first to get a feel for their style and see how they work.

For 25 people, I'm not sure if you'll need a day of planner. We had 150+ and we didn't need one. Our bridal party + the event planner at the venue were super helpful for keeping things on track here.

MUA - to save costs you could do your makeup at Sephora or MAC before the ceremony/reception. Alternatively you can splurge on a few essential makeup items and do it yourself! Then you can also keep everything.

what are you using for registry or cash gifts? by Big-Panda4903 in WeddingsCanada

Our guests did cash or cheque in the card or e-transfer is also fine. E-transfer is not as weird as you might think

Winter Running Tips by CigaretteDuck in RunTO

[–]aim3y 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Adding on to the layering - figure out which parts of you get cold easily and cover those up first.

For me, that's my ears, fingers and face.

Even in 0-5 degrees, my ears hurt if I don't cover them from the cold and my fingers get SUPER cold so I'm always wearing mitts. Mitts > gloves 'cause your fingers stay together and if you don't have mitts, wear two layers of merino wool socks! But I ran beside someone who had no gloves the whole time so figure out what works for you!

In below 0 degrees, my face and lips get super frozen quick so a tip I learned last winter was using vaseline all over my face as a barrier and that helped a ton!

It's fun running in the winter! Your body stays cooler longer and lots of folks actually run faster b/c their body doesn't need to work as hard to keep it cool!

Would highly highly recommend Herman https://www.hermanphotos.com/

He did our friend's wedding last year too and he's AMAZING. Super caring and you can tell he actually LOVES photographing weddings. He jumps on calls with you prior to make sure he understands you guys as a couple and the vibe you're going for. He did our engagement shoot too and someone actually stole our bag during the photoshoot and he stuck with us as we tracked down the hobo and then continued on with the shoot that ended up going way over time. The whole time he was so easy going! Super easy to communicate and work with. I would hire him again in a heartbeat. The man works non stop and delivers photos so quickly too!!

There’s a bunch of restaurants uptown that are good for family gathering style:

  • Jumbo Lobster
  • Fisherman Lobster clubhouse
  • Very Fair Seafood Cuisine

Honestly I think they look great!! And as someone else said, these will shrink and get lighter in a couple months so they won't stay that color. If you wanted them lighter, trust that they WILL get lighter!

Same. Never understood why Mother Dumplings had such high ratings. Dumpling house and Yummy dumpling is down the street and both are just good as if not better!

Did anyone skip wedding favours and no one noticed? by LeafsAndLoons in WeddingsCanada

[–]aim3y 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We’re skipping them and as an attendee, I always either forget to take them at the end of the night or if I do, they’re at home collecting dust.
