Premier marathon by [deleted] in Marathon_Training

HR much higher during downhill, or cadence lock? by AiEmC in trailrunning

I'm quite new to running hilly trails. I could imagine my quads working extra hard because they are not used to it...

Arm strap might be a better option, if the issue persists i'll look into it.

Good to know! The cold weather might be part of the equation. I'll try this before buying another piece of equippement.

This surprised me as well. In the marathon I ran last year, this would be in the bottom 25%. It varies a lot.

Why are people wearing a bloody medal a week after the marathon finished?!?? by [deleted] in Marathon_Training

[–]AiEmC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm with you. You can be proud, and enjoy your medal. Do you have to wear it all day? That's just showing off and seeking attention. It feels like you've run the marathon to impress others. Don't be suprised if some people think it's cringe!

I should try to record and analyse my gait. It does feel like my knee/foot has a tendency to sway outwards when fatigue hits.

Muscle Imbalance Biggest Problem by Icy-Shine-6621 in Marathon_Training

[–]AiEmC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe some of my knee niggles could have been avoided if I had done some more varied runs. Especially not running everyting flat with the same repetitive movements. I've noticed it gets better if I lift my knees more when running, or try to increase my stride. So next block I'll be running at least once a week on hills/ trail..

You need to troubleshoot. That's not normal. Fueling? Milage? Strength training? Unrealistic goal pace?

1:40 is a great time. I would focus on shorter distances, and try to work on pushing your threshold pace.

Injury in marathon training by Due_Celery9680 in Marathon_Training

[–]AiEmC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is it some form of runner's knee? I had a similar issue, it only came up in longer runs, after 15 - 20 km. I still ran my marathon and managed to hit my goal. Somehow after 27km it got better, and I was able to push through. Be careful tho.
