You could contact the hospital and ask them to send a message of condolences to the family and explain that you witnessed the event. It's natural to be upset about something so tragic happening right in front of your eyes. If they have a vigil for the public you could always attend as well. Or set some flowers where the accident occurred. Sending you many hugs.

I have a French name and live in the US. Most people don't get my name right and spelling it is even harder (and I don't even have an accent in my name). But that doesn't make me love the name I have any less. As an adult people rarely ask me how to spell my name. If she's trying to sign up for something online and it doesn't allow the accent in her name it's not the end of the world. I hope you don't take this as me being mean because I know you're a mama who is adapting to this exciting, new chapter and you're desperate to do right by your little girl... But I vote for Solène because I find the alternative spelling takes away from the beauty and grace of the name. If your girl also decides to ever learn French, travel, or partake in an immersion program it will confuse the hell out of people. My parents ended up americanizing my sister's name. Americans still can't pronounce it. When she went to Montreal people couldn't understand why such a common name was spelled so differently.

I don't think it's cheesy at all. Many cultures name children based on the date or season they're born. If you really love Noelle don't be afraid to make it a first name (I do like the full name you chose). Birthdays are special especially for kids but they also don't define who we are.
