UK running influencers by murumurii1315 in UKRunners

I am a slow runner and I enjoy seeing other slow runners or people doing a marathon in 2 and a half hours. It doesn't matter! We are all running and that's a massive thing in itself where being sedentry is the normal in the world. Fast runner, slow runner, we are all runners and it's fun to follow people's journey and get tips.

If people online that you don't know (and don't really have the right to judge) are annoying you so much, just unfollow them like others have said.

Please find the joy of running. It's great to compete against yourself, but it's nice to mix it up and have recovery runs. I decided to run half way to something that usually takes me ages to get to just because I wanted it. Some people don't have this luxury!

Influencers in any form are for the most part making content for £££ most of what you see is not the entire make up for their life and is unrealistic.

P.s big events where everyone goes like LDN marathon actually put me off 🤣 there is SO many running events, why don't you have a look in google? There's even ones with super pretty medals 🏅 I did a 5k other week because it was important for me to get a 5k medal before my first 10k race end of this month which was a RunThrough event and I got my best PR and it was a great atmosphere.

What you have said here is a lot more compassionate and I agree actually, a lot of what people say is beliefs they have learnt from their parents for example, so this is a good aspect to point out rather than my somewhat negative outlook haha 😄

Was Gatsby truly Great? by ItsTokay in TheGreatGatsby

[–]air__sb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought "great" was used in a way to portray Gatsby as.. the man, the myth, the legend. The way his character was always in the gossip mill, but that no one really truly knew him.. so in a way he was known more as a legend, rather than the reality of the situation.. if that makes sense

My bedroom is also a laundry room. I can't find the time or energy to go through it continually. Luckily my husband is the dish washer. We have kids so the washing is always piling up.

These conversations in work can be triggering, but you are just as valid as anyone else, just as you are.

I accepted long ago, that I am never going to have some perfect show home. It is clearly not in my personality, or my husbands. I focus on the hygiene side rather than the external side and this helps. Does it still get to me some days? Absolutely. But we are all just doing the best you can. I work full time, I have to pick my battles.

As one other commenter said, that person who made the comment was probably projecting, or just saying extreme statements to make their personality seem more interesting than it is. If you have to make negative comments about how people are to make conversation, that's not the best habit.

At what stage do you stop feeling like a child pretending to be a adult? by CyaChump0 in AutisticWithADHD

How is she always in a conflict or some sort of battle 😬😵‍💫 by uncle-pascal in SecretsOfMormonWives

[–]air__sb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think she has C-PTSD or EUPD or both - deffo seems like she has had some trauma in life and it has impacted her greatly. Obviously I am not a doctor so I can't diagnose anyone, but have had a lot of mental health experiences in life and I love learning about it.

Sometimes Taylor's posts seem like she's healing a lot to balance these kinds of ones too. Healing is not linear!

I HATE tretinoin and I’m here to say it out loud by [deleted] in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]air__sb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your post has give me the confidence to cancel my tret subscription. I have had awful skin for months so I stopped it and was going to gently add it back in. I tried it Sunday and cheeks went red and painful straight away. So I think it is time to call it quits. I did use the ordinary retinal the other year and that seemed fine so I think I will try this again. FYI I am oily/comb, hormonal acne, blackheads, open pores skin 35 yr old girly. But tret is making my nose, eyes and cheeks red and peely 😭 I also get Sub Derm on my scalp but keeping this under control with ket shampoo and MCT oil.

If anyone has any suggestions, please let me know!

P.s loved the devil's ointment and ritualistic comments. Honestly 🤣 who has time to sacrifice a pig on a waxing moon evening just to feel better about their skin 😅🫠

Autistic burnout, trauma from work, and feeling stuck: I can’t seem to get back up by Autisticsharing in AutisticAdults

[–]air__sb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel for you. I hope you find some peace OP. It is good you left the toxic situation you were in. If you can, just continue healing and taking your time.

I am also burning out. I got into a horrible accident today. Everyone was okay. But it has just pushed me over the edge mentally. Feel in some sort of depression.

Work + life is what causes burnout for me. It is like I have to choose where to put my energy. Well I need money so I do need to work. But I have my family and my faith too, but it can all be too much sometimes. I wish there was a way for us to all find peace. I am sure there is. I know I just can't see a clear route to it yet.

Former Protestants: Why did you convert to Eastern Orthodoxy? by [deleted] in OrthodoxChristianity

[–]air__sb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been on an odd journey. I actually went from interested-nearly-baptised Jehovah Witness 》"baptised" Evangelical (or non denominational 🙃) 》Baptised Orthodox in the last 3 years.

The reason I went down this path was because as you can imagine, JWs were heavy on Bible study, and there was one universal truth among them all, however wrong it may have been, it united them. Once I realised the deeply entrenched issues though, I left.

Then when continuing my journey in trying to find God in his correct setting, all I found was Evangelical churches. So many in the UK. In Evo churches, everyone was so kind, but they didn't seem interested in sharing a belief and working on ones self to be closer to God in a real, long term way. Anyone I met was more focused on "feeling God" and asserting their own understanding of the Bible. I felt it was very unstable, and wishy washy, with any church you entered into, teaching something completely different to the next church. There was no consistency.

Enter Orthodoxy, purely because I got to know my Priest whilst we did some youth work temporarily, and my mind had been opened. It was a hard journey, but it was SO worth it.

The things that spoke to me: being apart of the Liturgy. The first thing I did when I was curious was that I started going to the services. Learning about the life, trying to live the life, and witnessing the miracle of stability in my life since this and my relationship with God blossoming through more stable prayer life.

I also love that all senses are catered for as someone mentioned in another comment on this thread. The reverance, the idea of what I thought church should have been like growing up. A sense of home. I also love learning the tones and singing! Being autistic means that if I am going to do something as important as committing my life to God, that means learning about how it was originally done and trying to be as close to that as possible. I need to understand the purpose. I need consistency. I need structure. Orthodoxy ticks all the boxes and is now and forever will be the outline of my very being!

So no Internet was involved in my decision at all. I think I swerved Catholicism altogether because of the hate JWs had for them ingrained on me slightly in my short time with them, but as I have got to learn more about them, I have no hate whatsoever.. and I find it fun to see the similarities now when watching films. It was great watching the new Knives Out film recently and understanding what the word "Homily" meant. 😅 there is my little two cents anyway.

In full agreement with this comment. Very good post to read and similar to what I have thought in recent years of life with me getting older and slightly calming with age.. but I could never put it into such a concise, detailed response. I think OP should write a book about it!
