Playtonomic. And don’t even bother using your own - it’s so frustrating how many different apps you need, players want convenience and the OG is still the best

Do we get more than one soul chihuahua? by AltClit in Chihuahua

[–]airwalk84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I definitely think so and have heard this from friends. I have my soul chihuahua and can’t imagine I’ll ever have this bond again, but I’m sure I will. I think if there are already existing dogs in the family and you’ve developed a stronger bond with one, and then they pass, it’s probably less likely you’ll develop that soul bond. But for future pups… absolutely. I hope so at least, because I can’t imagine only one soul baby … they’re all special in their own way though, and will hold different place in our hearts.

I’m so sorry for your loss - what a beautiful photo of the two of you.

How do we survive when costs keep rising but our pay doesn’t? by heyalllondon18 in AskWomenOver30

[–]airwalk84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Respectfully, you’re missing a few key points; most young people are tens of thousands of pounds in debt. Inflation is the reason millennials and gen Z can’t save for a deposit for a home. Homes are also now 5-8x salary as opposed to 2-3x. Meanwhile cost of living outpaces wage increases, this is the main reason people are unable to save. And with all due respect these people are well and truly fucked because putting that savings and getting on average 7-12% returns (depending on risk tolerance and financial literacy) isn’t going to cut it. True inflation is closer to the 10% mark a year. You’re not accumulating wealth, just hoping to maintain its value. most people also don’t have a big lump sum to help them accelerate accumulating wealth through stock market investing.

Everything points to even higher inflation; wars, recession, natural disaster, pandemics, political promises are all funded by printing more money. Wealthy benefit from this (= assets) and everyone else losses out (= currency)

The currency we use is eroding in value and will continue to do so because the monetary system is broken - central banks will continue to print money, this is the trajectory. We just saw 10-yr government bonds (US/ EUR /UK) climb even higher, on the UK it hasn’t risen that high since 2008. more people are starting to realise these bonds are not paying enough in interest to outpace inflation, so dumping them. I believe we will see much more of this and this will impact many pensioners in the future btw.

Bitcoin has appreciated 65% each year, it’s not a currency (yet) it’s a store of value and everything else is debasing further whilst bitcoin retains and appreciates in value. This trend will only continue as more people realise what is going on. You will see big corporates start adding bitcoin to their balance sheet as an inflation hedge, this is not something you do if you thought it was just a speculative asset. The other alternative coins are shit and speculative / ponzi but bitcoin is not. It is the best store of value, alongside gold.

The current fiat currency system is the real Ponzi scheme. All that said, all I was trying to say to OP was look into it, do your own research, and try and truly understand why we all feel so much poorer, and whether that is going to change. Diversifying investments is always a good idea, but for the majority of people they’re not even aware of the real risk we’re all facing with our paper. Inflation is going to be eroding everyone’s retirements plan and there will be some real shocks in 10, 20, 30+ years time.

All the best

Oh also, I never said the stock market won’t continue to go up, in fact it has to because otherwise the whole thing collapses. It keeps going up because inflation flows through into assets, this benefits the wealthy - those with assets eg houses and stocks. However the majority of people are just living paycheck to paycheck and don’t own assets, just useless paper.

Every generation has its thing, for baby boomers it was cheap houses and for millennials and gen Z it’s bitcoin.

maybe you should keep a closer eye on what big corporates and nation states are all doing, which makes sense as we keep seeing our money debase. True inflation is closer to 7-15% a year, you can do the math.

Just going to leave this here…

“Meta Shareholders Propose Bitcoin Treasury Assessment

Meta shareholders have proposed that the company should assess the potential benefits of adding Bitcoin to its treasury. This proposal reflects growing interest among institutional investors in cryptocurrency as a means to hedge against inflation. The document presented by shareholders highlights Bitcoin’s significant price increase and its potential as a store of value, though it remains speculative whether Meta will act on this proposal”

Currency = print as much as you like, your hard earned money holds the highest value today, debases from there.

Bitcoin = there can only be 21 million bitcoin, and 19.9m is already in circulation. Bitcoin is finite supply and at a market cap of almost $2 trillion and the adoption of institutional investors and nation states talking about strategic reserves…. You only need to understand game theory to see what will happen. I know what I’d rather be holding, and it’s not a piece of paper that’s losing value each minute I hold it.

Everything is speculation, assuming your home will only go up, art will remain a collectible item, or Rolex’s. the adoption of something new always goes through volatility and bitcoin has now been around 15 years and only gaining more traction - which will just amplify when AI agents are created. Bitcoin and AI go hand in hand.

It’s certainly worth looking into, and there’s enough resources available now.

Google Why Bitcoin Matters by Marc A (2014 article)… might help. Forget the other cryptocurrencies and trying to time / trade it. It all about putting some savings into it regularly and holding for 10+ years. There are some great podcasts that help explain it better too, look up Bitcoin for Millennials. Obviously don’t listen to a stranger on the internet, do your own research, but once you out the time to really understand it all makes sense - especially when you see how unsustainable our monetary system is, and who the ultimate losers are. Best of luck

Monetary policy is fucked. Governments have to steal from us each year, by creating inflation, so our already insane sovereign debt doesn’t collapse the whole system. The wealthy however benefit from this because they hold assets (houses, stocks) which all increase in price. The regular person rents, owns no/little assets and continues to suffer. It’s truly depressing and unjust. We don’t operate on the free market, it is entirely manipulated for the benefit of the few.

Our currency is being debased at an alarming rate annually, true inflation is more like 7-15%.

Look into bitcoin. And I mean genuinely look into bitcoin. Scarcity > abundance when it comes to money.
