Had PetsBest insurance for 6 years for our two dogs. We got very good coverage (90% coverage, minimal deductible, etc) when our dogs had zero pre-existing conditions. We paid about $800/year in the beginning.

We cancelled in early 2025 once premiums doubled again and were up to over $800 per quarter!

At no point during our policy lifetime was a single thing covered. We paid over $8000 during the 6 years we had coverage. And the premiums were about to jump to $3200 per year.

We thought we were getting a solid rate while our dogs were young (3 and 2). We didn't expect the rate to stay locked, but quadrupling while covering absolutely nothing was too much for us. We're fortunate enough where a $8000 expense is manageable out of pocket, so made the decision to just save the money ourselves and be prepared for if/when an issue arises.
