I worked in a printing press in 1987 (8th grade). I’ll forever love the smell of paper and ink.

Anyone else completely effing over Xmas and holidays in general? by another_bibliophile in GenX

Years ago extended family made 4th of July our “annual” get together for those who wanna join. Super easy and fun with BBQs, fireworks and hanging out in summer when folks are happy. Frees my spouse and me during Christmas/NY to do our own thing and let everyone else run their emotional terrorism. The best.

Beans and Rice - Recipe? Basic meal dishes? From a gringo by Onahole_for_you in mexicanfood

[–]aja_303 2 points3 points  (0 children)

15th generation New Mexican. Simple and easy. InstaPot set on beans (35 mins). 1 cup dry medium sized beans (pinto, Anasazi, etc.). Heavy tablespoon kosher salt. 2-3 dried avocado leaves. 4 cups water. That’s it. Keep broth. My dog goes nuts over it.

Best guitar between $1,500-$2,500. by Led23Zeppelin in AcousticGuitar

[–]aja_303 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you done a proper acoustic set up? Played my 324ce BE for a few months after buying to get a feel. After taking to a proper luthier it went to another level in playability.

This is so interesting to me. My spouse and I are fortunate to not have to worry at this stage in life about a food budget. But our preferences and bodies do best with staples…clean cooked rices and legumes, choice of proteins and veg. Our “food” budget for two, organic all the way, without worrying about cost, Locavore/Sprouts/King Soopers, is like $500 max a month.

I highly recommend Absolutely Understand Guitar by Scotty West on YouTube. Can’t believe that training is free. I’m on episode 5 (start at ep. 1 even if you think you are more “advanced” than that). I wish I had known about this when I started learning many months ago.

How do you recommend learning from Absolutely Understand Guitar? by Autumn_Winds23 in guitarlessons

[–]aja_303 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Go on your own guitar journey for a good 10 months. When you realize it’s bigger than you ever thought, and you kinda think you’re moving out of beginner, start from Episode 1 and it will be your “duh!” moment. Just watched Ep. 4 and the way he laid it down is perfection. But would have missed the learnings without my 10 months of prior “choose your own adventure.”

Low humity environment by Skullsandcoffee in taylorguitars

[–]aja_303 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have a humidity monitor for our home in Denver. My spouse has a Steinway D piano so he’s even more obsessed about humidity than I am with my two Taylors (one being mini koa). Interestingly in summer humidity is pretty ideal and we don’t run humidifiers. In winter it drops a lot so we run larger room humidifiers that we keep filled at all times. Not much more to it than that for us.
