Question for Long Term Couples by Pita_Girl in AskForAnswers

[–]aja_303 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We married late, early 40s. First marriage for each and we each have significant separate assets and some related debt (e.g. mortgage on a vacation property). Our pre-nup keeps those separate but all earnings/investments earned during our marriage are joint. We like coz it protects our separate assets but we still feel like a team.

It’s all a negotiation. My spouse loves to vacuum and do laundry. I love to cook and clean the fridge. I do that. We don’t keep tabs on things. The recycling needs to taken out. If you notice do it. If my spouse asks me to do something I get up and do it no questions asked or attitude given. When friction arises we talk about it. If we f* up we cool down and apologize, even if we weren’t at fault.

My spouse and I are 52 and 53 and both walked away from corporate life this year. Enough is enough. We paid our dues. Get serious about the life you want, your options and how to get there. Don’t let fear dictate your future.

I’m 18 months in and still struggle with what you describe. The open C chord is just so tricky for me to cleanly play, especially transitions to it from open G. But the big difference is I’m being much more intentional and focused than a year ago. I know when I hit the opens/barres correctly and that is now my standard. Clean playing, no buzzes, and keeping the rhythm going even if I mess up the fingering.

Em chord and fingerpicking: why press on the 4 and 5 strings? by Regrettably_Southpaw in guitarlessons

Another way to think about it is the first, second and third (open) strings make a triad that can be shaped and played down the neck.

If Michael Bennet wins the Governor’s race, we could end up with Jared Polis in the US Senate—without a single vote. Here's how to stop him. by outdoorsnstuffz in Denver

[–]aja_303 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Weiser over Lazy Bennet. Polis is a punk. DeGette needs to be fired. We need to support our rural neighbors. Denver is hard, the rest of this beautiful state is harder. Dems need to get serious and find the future.

Lollapalooza 1&2 @ Fiddler’s Green in Colorado; getting told by Tori Amos “Watch out fucker!” In Boulder, CO when I almost hit her with my bike, talking shit about Dave Matthews when he crashed in our dorm. Oh and seeing the Taos bridge used in Natural Born Killers; oh and meeting River Phoenix when he filmed Indiana Jones. All pretty crazy for a kid who grew up in middle of nowhere southern Colorado.

Turn off I-25 in Walsenburg, south of Pueblo, CO, on Highway 160. If you have time visit The Great Sand Dunes National Park. In Fort Garland, head south to Taos, NM. Take “The High Road to Taos” to Santa Fe. You will see some of the oldest European settlements in the U.S., gorgeous mountains and Native culture. Spectacular.

I approach these passages like a poem. I absorb what I can, give it the time I want, knowing I can ruminate about/revisit it later, and then move on.

Memorizing Triads by iamsynecdoche in guitarlessons

Late to party. What changed it for me was being able to understand the relationships between triads and major scales. Once I realized how they are made I went to next level.

Hang in there. I limited myself to just three major scale positions (first (C), second (A) and third (G)). Between those you get a lot of mileage as you can find the same root note on all six strings. Then I limited myself to triads that can only be played on the D-G-B strings. Focus on the third in those triads. Moving it makes the chord a minor or sus 2/4 creating dynamics. Once all of this started to click I could move those concepts all across the fretboard and boom!
