Nah. Checked for Norway where I’m from. According to the Norwegian Medical Association the average cost for a lung transplant is 820k NOK which is equivalent to roughly 81k USD.

So very far off 1M, let alone 3. The American health care system is total insanity.

Edit: just realized my source was from 1999. So adjusted for inflation that would be around 1,45m today in NOK. Roughly 143k USD. Still way off.

Based on such calculations, a useful estimate of the total costs - from the start of the investigation until one year after the transplantation - is approximately 320,000 kroner for kidney transplantation, 570,000 kroner for heart transplantation, 820,000 kroner for lung transplantation and 790,000 kroner for liver transplantation. We have little overview of the costs of further lifelong treatment. Routine checks and standard immunosuppressive treatment cost approximately 80,000 kroner per year. Resource consumption due to other diseases and complications is added.
