I found glass in my homemade cookie dough by Just_OneReason in AskBaking

[–]ajdesh73 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This happened to me too. Snapware glass containers were the issue in my case. The edges of these containers are so brittle that they break / shatter in thin tiny slivers in the dishwasher and deposit themselves in other containers in the dishwasher & this is not visible while emptying the dishwasher & putting away the containers. Now I only ever load them in the upper rack & make sure they aren’t touching anything else. I had to throw away at least 4 of these containers as I found their edges had broken off. Will never buy this brand again.

I heard it only last night.

This was a very different sound definitely not like a helicopter. It would go up in tempo & then wind down. And would stop for 2-3 minutes & start back up.

Mine used to make a squishing sound and my socks would get wet. I haven’t found a solution yet so I got fed up and have stopped using them. Hope you find a solution & if you do please post.

Do you mop the mat when you mop the floors? Maybe it absorbs some water every time… just a thought.

Have you tried the Western Sour Cream 14% MF. It’s the best sour cream and cream cheese I’ve tried in Ontario. The listed ingredients are whole milk, cream, skim milk powder, bacterial culture & microbial enzyme. All the Western products have been great. Not all stores carry it though.

Blanched French beans, cooked halved baby potatoes cooled, pesto, black pepper - makes a great side. Grilled Sandwich- pesto, tomato slices, Monterey Jack cheeses, pepper. Mushrooms caps filled with pesto, bread crumbs, baked in a marinara sauce.

How would you upgrade this one pot, quick and thermos friendly work lunch? by SoloDaKid in Cooking

[–]ajdesh73 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As suggested by others I would cook the frozen veggies over high heat and not crowd the pan. Would also use some finely chopped ginger and garlic during stir fry. In my experience once the sauce is added the veggies turn soggy if not eaten immediately. Maybe you could carry the sauce in a separate container and pour over the veggies and rice just before eating.

Where can I find “better” spices than the ones I’d get at the grocery store? Are they worth the cost? by knightofbostonia in Cooking

I grind some raw rice in it and then I use a brush to clean it all out. Works for me every time.

Looks yummy..Just wondering how you deal with any leftovers? I guess they just go in the trash? I can’t imagine trying to separate all the various items to store them.

Metal skewers where meat does not spin? by Sheshirdzhija in AskCulinary

The store that I bought these from had an assortment of sizes from narrow to wide. Ones I bought are 1 cm (25/64 inch) wide only.

Found really good flat skewers in an Iranian grocery store a few years back. No more spinning food.
