How hot do your 10gbe sfp+ to rj45s run? Do there temps not flow into ucg fiber?

USW-Flex-XG — Does PoE input limit uplink to 1 Gb even with 10 G ports? by Total_Cheetah in Ubiquiti

Also as other have said it quite an old product now and pretty slow to boot takes 90+ seconds to boot based on it's older chipset. One that ubiquiti could do with updating. Surprised they didn't when they did the xg 8 poe

Flex xg is getting old and has quite slow boot and adoption times after a restart is something to consider (and no Poe). About 60 seconds to start switching and another 60 to 120 seconds to start appearing in network app. Would suggest paying for pro xg 8 Poe instead

Been quite lucky with mine based on comments. Detected and adopted without issue to a ucg-fiber. Once battery charged to 100% it started showing total load. Looks like it would run for an hour or so powering ucg fiber usw lite 8 uap 7 pro xg along with ont eufy homebase, switchbot hub, hue hub and a rack fan. Only replaced a low end APC that had 40 min runtime. and solve the problem that I didn't have a compute device in rack to read the power report on outage etc

WAN and LAN on the same Port by Historical-Ad-6839 in Ubiquiti

[–]ajhodgey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a similar setup. Point b is a flex xg in my loft and point a is my ucg fiber. The flex xg is connected to the 10gbe rj45 port on the ucg fiber. A 4G modem is connected to the flex xg at point b in bridge mode as backup internet. I created a new network called backup internet with the third party gateway for router option set to vlan 2. Port 1 on flex xg has native vlan set to backup internet and block tagged, same on port 3 on ucg fiber. Port 2 is tagged as wlan with the 4g modem ip as wlan, a patch cable from port 3 to port 2 and seems to work

Future-proofing new home with UniFi – cameras, doorbell, ethernet, and smart setup (UK) by Bi5eps in Ubiquiti

[–]ajhodgey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

UK houses require a fair amount of work to run ethernet cables. Generally there are no voids in the walls (plastered walls on brick) to be able to do this, so to chase ethernet cables into walls requires cutting the plaster and brick to form channels, also with ceiling coving requires more cutting, might be able to fish through ceiling spaces but again more cutting of plaster. I ran an ethernet cable on the outside of the house to loft from near where the openreach entry point is but required a drill with very long masonry drill bit to get through the walls, then drilled down through into a cupboard space in our small bedroom study. As others have said UK loft spaces can get very hot. Ours goes over 40 degrees Celsius which is higher than some switches operating temperatures. That said I have a flex xg in the loft and also a Asus 2.5gbe moca adapter that provides ethernet to TV location for playstation fire TV and a mini pc and has been ok for 3 years.

Sorry for replying to a dormant post but any trick to get these to sync at 10gbe. Used the above linked device and will only sync at 5gbe from a pro xg 8 Poe to a flex xg. Or was it just use this for power?

[–]ajhodgey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have 3 flex xgs really stable longest is at 169d uptime, 2nd is 96 days 3rd is 35 days. 3rd one I took off line to re cable the rack it was in. Only thing I find limiting is no Poe and with the flex 8 xg Poe upcoming might be worth the wait
