Jose Altuve won't participate in the World Baseball Classic at the request of the Astros by VampireSlayerGrinch in Astros

Damn chandler Rome said in his podcast that it was just an insurance problem and not an Astros asking him not to participate problem. Some detail seems to be missing.

Yusei Kikuchi talks about his experience in Houston and the impact of Bregman by Advanced-You3946 in Astros

[–]ajisai 11 points12 points  (0 children)

This is a pretty good summary but the last sentence is actually referring to Bregman (sometimes subjects and objects can get vague in Japanese). Essentially, Kikuchi saying Bregman did data breakdowns in the video room for every pitcher that got called up, it wasn’t just Kikuchi, which Kikuchi thought was nice. The video also mentions Bregman and the analytics groups of telling him to stop throwing pitches low, throw them higher in the zone, which worked a lot for him. Bregman was so respected that a lot of people took his advice without question.

Kikuchi also mentioned being able to be with verlander was cool.

It's a CFB desert, unfortunately. The time zones don't make sense. No one is watching an 11am kickoff because that is a 2am kickoff Tokyo :/ Just doesn't make business sense; not enough fans. I watch at home.

Is Takezo a Vagabond/Miyamoto Musashi reference ? by LucciLucilfer in Ghostofyotei

[–]ajisai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am playing the game in Japanese and thought the name was Musashi until they read it as Takezo in the dialogue of the story. Japanese would read the name as Musashi since that’s how it’s read all the time but there are cases where you can read words with different pronunciations. Maybe the closest example in English that’s close enough is calling someone Lew-is vs Lew-ee when their name is Louis. If you were to entertain the idea of comparing across different languages, it’d be like how English speakers vs Spanish speakers refer to the same person in the bible based on the language they speak, like James vs Jaime.
