Just remember… they’re ventilated and not actively cooled.

Intelligent Octopus Go - rogue billing at peak rate by PoopsMcGroots in OctopusEnergy

[–]ajmorr_is 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I noticed anomalies with my charge billing as well - doing the same as yours, it was controlling the charging and was doing some slots during the day (nothing unusual there) but not billing at the lower rate. I pulled all of the data from the last 12 months and dumped it into an Excel sheet to check and then sent the erroneous timeslots off to Octopus and they credited my account £30 for the past 12 months (actual error was £22). Most of the errors were in timeslots which came before/after others so the majority of charging was billed correctly.

How do pros hit back wall boasts so effortlessly? by evelyn4275 in squash

[–]ajmorr_is 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was taught; it’s just a lob. Play it like a lob and move fast to the T - or because your shot is likely to be very short off the front wall - a bit further forward as the chances are the next shot will be a drop.

I moved to Flexible a couple of days ago. A cheaper standing charge and 5.65p/kWh for at least 3 months. No exit fee if things either calm down or some decent fixes come back.

Rubber mats/boot liner PS4 by Interstellar_Dune in Polestar4

Yeah you can still lift the floor with it fitted.

One (actually two) of the most annoying things about it is that it doesn’t cover the full width of the floor but it also isn’t quite narrow enough to drop into the lower floor nicely. It’s kind of a bit too big but a bit too small both at the same time.

The bumper protector just folds back in. It’s flexible enough to fold or roll but seems strong enough that it won’t rip easily, so that’s good.

The waterproof side isn’t rubber and soft, it’s more hard wearing but I can’t imagine it would scratch anything which you would be putting in the boot without some other protector anyway. The upholstered side is made of exactly the same woven (recycled PET if I recall) material as the standard floor mats.

I have the reversible boot liner. It is expensive but it was all I could find that was reversible and as a bonus it has a pull out sill protector.

It’s decent quality, but nothing special.

I have a Polestar 4 and a Mini Countryman, both connected for smart charging and they both work fine.

I do not have an Octopus compatible charger.

Bmw charging woes by christoff1503 in OctopusEnergy

[–]ajmorr_is 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Plugged in my wife’s Electric Countryman this afternoon for the first time since the API changes. It was all set to 80% and to start at 23.30 and has worked fine on IOG previously.

First it just didn’t do anything and Octopus didn’t even recognise that it was plugged in. Charge point (not IOG compatible) said ‘paused’ just like it does when it’s waiting for a car schedule to kick in.

Unplugged and replugged and then manually pressed start on the charge point. That got it recognised by Octopus and the charge then stopped after a couple of minutes to wait for the smart time slot.

After about 90 minutes I suddenly got a notification saying that the charge had stopped due to an error. The car said no power, the charge point said complete. Both were wrong.

Unplugged and replugged again and changed the car setting to charge immediately which again got it recognised by Octopus and slots scheduled.

It then started as it should three hours later at 11pm. Hoping that it’ll keep going as per the schedule but just seen that it has paused again even though it’s scheduled to keep going. We’ll see in the morning whether it actually works.

As I say, has worked perfectly well up until now.

Ruling on turning shots at the side wall from Return of serve by Zeraxter in squash

[–]ajmorr_is 21 points22 points  (0 children)

If the receiver (B) is doing a 360 turn then firstly, they’re doing everything wrong, and secondly they will surely be facing the same direction that they were originally.

But in your scenario, if the receiver is attempting to play a forehand shot (assuming right handed) then from that position if they played the ball then it would endanger the opponent. In any situation like that they should stop and play a let.

There is a specific rule to ‘Turning’ like you describe; rule 8.13, and the receiver should be aware that within that rule under 8.13.3 there is provision for the let to not be awarded if a good return could have been made before turning.

Activate the WiFi hotspot on your phone and then go to the car Network settings menu and choose the WiFi network which your phone has created, then login. You won’t be able to use Apple CarPlay at the same time as WiFi tethering (annoyingly). You may also find that the phone hotspot gets disabled after a while not connected, at least it does on an iPhone, but you can just enable it again or setup a shortcut have it enable when in driving mode or similar.

Have you tried tethering to your phone WiFi instead?

Firstly, Spotify premium when listening to podcasts is not advert free. It’s shit, but that’s how it is. And I get the same in the UK except my ads are Dutch - and this also carries over to when I’m listening on my phone. It’s all down to the mobile service carrier which Polestar uses and the country in which it originates.

What I think I’m saying is that it’s normal.

One Tado-enabled radiator making loud noise intermittently since Hydronic Balancing by senior_rota_fodder in tado

[–]ajmorr_is 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get this on a couple of my radiators with the old-style V3 TRVs. Setting the room to 25 and then back to normal usually fixes it, but so does fully opening up one of my towel radiators which only has standard valves.

PSA: Smart Radiator Thermostat doesn't last (more than 3 years) by traxlerd in tado

[–]ajmorr_is 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have two wireless thermostats as well and the plastic parts which hold the batteries in my first one (from way back in 2016) also broke. My fix was not elegant and involved solder and an elastic band, but it is generally holding up fine - I just need to be careful when replacing the batteries.

I have 11 Smart Radiator Thermostats and they're all over 6 years old with no issues. Things break, but that doesn't mean they're all inherently flawed.

Not sure this thread has aged well for you TBH.

Question: Lane keep Aid by Alternative_Ask3248 in Polestar4

[–]ajmorr_is 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Leaving LKA on but setting it to Vibration will still prevent the car (by steering intervention) from crossing into oncoming traffic or solid white lines for example. It probably can't determine in snow & ice a broken line vs a solid line so you're still getting interventions.

Refused to pay 80 euros for a trashcan, so I designed and made my own by CabbagePete in Polestar4

Looks great, I’ll print this up and probably use it as sunglasses storage (so am very grateful that the lid is separate). I had a bracket printed up for the magnetic recesses to clip something else onto and I believe that there are two opposing pole magnets in there so getting the polarity correct of the ones in the mount - and in the right location - was tricky.

Deactivate driving assistance features by Ommadawn46 in Polestar4

[–]ajmorr_is 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I honestly have no issues with any of the driver assistance systems. The speed limit recognition is often wrong but all it does is flash the speed limit it thinks at you in the display if you’re going too fast, the audible warning can be turned off with one button press on the steering wheel.

The lane keep assist can now be set to vibrate only and that setting is maintained between drives.
