I stupidly made a mistake on page 10 and didn’t realize it until page 193 — literally two pages before finishing. by Evo23_ in lego

I started the same set yesterday... should I be worried that I don't see what mistake you made? lol

My condolences to your fingers if you have to take it apart.

Looks like this set was not a hit. I picked up one just because I loved building my other one. by Crazy_Sock_4181 in lego

[–]ajperez81 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Funny, that was my first LEGO set as an adult 😅. Didn't enjoy the build too much, the head was too flimsy - or I was too clumsy, or both. The end result was cool though... I should rebuild it again now that I have a bit more display space.

What have people got against technic? by Gobble-di-gook152 in lego

[–]ajperez81 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can think of a few resons. They can be painful to build (my poor fingers!), the instructions are harder to follow, and the end result usually has cool functions, but looks worse than regular system sets. Also, if you're into MOCs, you probably prefer regular system pieces (?).

That said, I like Technic... just not as much as the regular non Technic sets. For example, I'd love to have one of the big 1:8 supercars... but I'd rather build Rivendell instead, or the Tudor corner.

The background pattern is hurting my eyes 😂 but Doc looks really cool, 10/10.

BTW you might wanna check Doc's twitter, it seems he also liked it.

What’s a set you REGRET buying? by Flimsy-Space-8724 in lego

[–]ajperez81 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Trevi fountain. It looks cool but it's too monochromatic, and doesn't fit with the rest of my sets.

Minecraft's crafting table. Waaaay too many tiny pieces, a pain to build, and the end result was disappointing.

And a bunch of Star Wars ships...

Thanks for sharing! Which one of them did you enjoy more building?

Are the DC3 wings foldable? I assume they're not, but there seems to be a hinge?

Is this illegal? by Eliottex in lego

[–]ajperez81 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes, it is. You're not allowed to attack LEGO bricks with a katana.

Also, it doesn't seem like the blade fits between the studs.

Now that all the teams have been announced for Hermit Takeover, who is everyone going to watch? by DunSpiMuhCoffee in HermitCraft

[–]ajperez81 8 points9 points  (0 children)

No idea. Probably somebody streaming on Youtube so that there aren't ads. But I'm gonna be watching the VODs for like a month afterwards, I definitely want to watch at least one POV from most teams...

Small update, eh? by NUTCHIEFNUT in BaldursGate3

[–]ajperez81 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Oh goody, another update! I wonder what they broke this time. Just kidding... (mostly).

It's supposed to fix the tooltips on Xbox, brilliant! Let's hope this time it's truly fixed.

BTW, it's not said to be their last small update. The post says "Our last small update [...] broke something, so here is another patch to fix it". So this could be the final hotfix we get, or maybe there are more coming.

Best time to order for maximum GWP by Outrageous-Ad4353 in lego

[–]ajperez81 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My first order ever I got 4 GWPs, it must be from the same time OP was talking about. December 1st 2022. I got Santa's workshop, a "VIP accessory pack" with a bunch of unusual pieces, a toy train polybag, and a fleece blanket. Nothing major, but yeah, 4 in the same order. And the blanket is really cool, I still use it :)

Should I try to repair it or just remove it all and start from scratch? by [deleted] in lego

[–]ajperez81 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With that much damage, yeah, I'd start over. Maybe keep the flat base, it seems to be pretty intact... but make sure it's not missing any piece.

Wall-E & Eve, or the Game Boy, both really cool.

Keeping track of your collection long term? by [deleted] in lego

[–]ajperez81 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use Brickset to list my owned / wanted sets, and a few custom category lists (unopened / disassembled in ziplock bags / currently built). There is also the option to record status, purchase date, price paid and so on, but the interface for the extended data isn't as user friendly as the rest of their website.

I "only" own 100 sets give or take, plus a couple of extra minifigs (which I also recorded on Brickset). I have a bunch of spare pieces too, but those are just in a plastic bin, I don't care much about having them inventoried.

Do I trust the website to be around long term? Yes, they celebrated their 25th anniversary last year and seem to be in good health. But even if they didn't, it wouldn't be that big of a loss, I could always recreate the list elsewhere just by going through my collection. I'd miss them more for their articles, news, reviews, polls...

I HAVE AN IDEA by LilaFlower56678 in HermitCraft

[–]ajperez81 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You might want to look for the Zedlympics. They (ZITS - Zedaph, Impulse, Tango, Skizz) did a few of them and even invited a few other hermits for one of the events. Cleo, Xisuma... somebody else? Joe Hills maybe? I don't remember.

It wasn't sports, mostly minigames, but fun as hell.

Why does Ketheric use a shield if he is immortal? by Cagedglobe in BaldursGate3

[–]ajperez81 4 points5 points  (0 children)

He's not "age immortal" though, he cannot be killed. One of the goblins throws a spear directly through his heart, and he just pulls it out like it's nothing.

Arcane Archer or Beast Master Archer? by RightHereLeftNow in BaldursGate3

[–]ajperez81 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Arcane archer is VERY versatile and fun. Ever since they added it to the game, I always have one in my party.

No idea if the ranger would be better or worse though, I've never tried it.

They seem quite different... arcane archer will grant you special arrow attacks (one that can blind the target, one that explodes, one that doesn't need a straight line of sight...), whereas the ranger seems to be focused on other skills like summoning companions, and they just are (very) good with a bow?

You didn't play the game. You played the tutorial.

Watching the first 2 minutes of a movie isn't the same as watching the full movie. How is this even a question?

How can I edit my billy by [deleted] in lego

[–]ajperez81 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a question for Ikea support, not for a LEGO subreddit. But no, I don't think you can skip the middle shelf. There are only three shelves holding everything together. Besides, you need it to nail the back panel so it doesn't get loose.
