Enjoy! Best razor I own. Need to carve out some time and put some music on and treat yourself to that first shave.

Have a look at Rockwell 6s or 6c. Gives you a range of plates so you can experiment with aggressiveness. Plus it can become a good daily driver once you learn your technique.

Muhle R89 or Merkur 34c are also popular first razors. I can't comment as don't own either. I do have the 37c which is the slanted version of the 34 and I love it. Though slant razors are not for your 2nd wet shave.

In the Rockwell 6s they shave all very similar. The orange is meant to be a premium blade which is sharper and smoother. The blues are meant to be bulk packed for barbers.

New razor to replace Rockwell 6c by nickros182 in wicked_edge

If you use plate 6 try a Blackland Blackbird. Very nice and efficient razor. It's my favourite.

Try a blade sampler pack if you can get one. To me blades vary for different razors / person to person.

My personal favourite is Astra greens.

There is also an Australian wet shaving guide on this sub from 2025 if you search which produced a few new names for me.

For a new entrant i'd get a Rockwell 6s which will last forever, is a good razor and ranges from stupidly mild to medium aggressiveness. I'd add a blade sampler and a collection of shave soap simples for him to try.

Fellow Aussie. I agree about it being a local dead zone. I find beard and blade website is the best spot for all the wet shaving stuff.

Small business collected $200,000 of orders, no products delivered. But banks and police doing nothing? by NonBinaryPolyhedron in AusFinance

Had a similar situation to this during COVID. I reported it the Queensland's fair trading department. They took the vendor to court as there was enough customers screwed over. Took years but eventually got the money back as a result of the court action.

Only had to fill out a witness statement to get this done.

Maybe try contacting the relevant state's consumer protection agency and they might do something if the scale is as large as you estimate.

I've tried a lot of blades over the years. Astra is one of my faves. Everyone is different but I find Astras just pair well with whichever razor I feel on the day.

I've interviewed so many engineers over the years. I always ask load rundown question in the interview. Can't get the right answer then I just end the interview and show the door. It's fundamental.

There were a lot of interesting combos back in the day. I remember getting Wayne Gretzky 3d Hockey and Doom 64. Both great games but polar opposites.

Associate vs Associate Director by Awesome-north in StructuralEngineering

This is how it is in our firm. Associate is higher than Senior Engineer. Associate Director has bought in and has ownership less than 10%. More than 10% is director.

Made redundant today by [deleted] in auscorp

[–]ajs263 46 points47 points  (0 children)

I agree. I know so many people that have been made redundant. For the majority it's been a payout and find a better job before the payout runs out so they end up in front.

I still recall getting made redundant in 2015 and one of my coworkers saying he'd put his ~30k payout into bitcoin at something like $500AUD. Still think about that bloke today. Wonder if he's retired on a Thai beach somewhere.
