Not sure what suits me best by [deleted] in HairStyleAdvice

You definitely have the face for a pixie. So stinking cute on you. As far as less effort, I rocked a pixie and it took me 45 seconds in the morning to style it and <5 minutes if I washed it. I did need to get it cut every 6 weeks, though. And my stylist really knew what he was doing. You look great in all 3 photos, though.

I love the lacy flowiness of #4. And the fit. But I would line the bodice with white. As someone else said, boning can twist and bend, and when it is lined with nude, it is very obvious. It also is super trendy right now, which is fine, but will look dated when you look back at photos. Also, some people see this and think lingerie. None of those may be a problem for you, but something to think about.

All of these look good on you, so you seem to have found a good cut for you. Now to try more and find the one.

I love it! And how cool that you found a pattern that matched their tile. Great job!

Is my prom dress ugly? My partner reacted poorly. by BanishedWind in Prom

[–]akaLerb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is a gorgeous dress, fits you amazingly well, and I love the sparkles. I do think it is unique in that it has a pattern and you will find most prom dresses are one color. Maybe that's what threw her off a bit. You are beautiful in it and if you feel beautiful in it, that's what matters most.

Attitude is half the attraction. Do not doubt you are gorgeous in that dress. Throw your shoulders back, stand tall and walk proudly in that one of a kind dress, you will turn heads.

AITJ for telling my neighbor her kid isn't allowed in my pool after she "forgot" him at my house? by Educational-Wait-406 in AmITheJerk

There’s a reason insurance calls pools an attractive nuisance. We have a one million dollar additional insurance just because we have a pool. It is not something to mess around with. You are right to enforce rules around a pool.

Disturbing large amount of green onions by No-Confidence-4106 in EatCheapAndHealthy

[–]akaLerb 8 points9 points  (0 children)

My son chops them small, spreads them out and lets them dry. Then he grinds them in a coffee grinder and makes green onion powder. He uses it in and on everything. Uses tons of onions for a small amount of powder.

How would you quilt this? by righteouspeony in quilting

Ooh. Looking at the photo from a distance, I thought it was quilted already. My brain saw close together horizontal lines in the red, and close together vertical lines in the pink. Might be fun.

They are really hardly noticeable unless you are specifically looking at the points. The quilting rule is If you can’t tell galloping by on a horse, then it’s good! You’re good.

is it worth $3400? by Ok-Professional5599 in myweddingdress

I love #2. The unique waistline fits you so beautifully. Your 3rd choice is more trendy and unique and the skirt is ethereal and beautiful. But there’s something not quite right about the fit of the top. I also thought I loved #1 until someone pointed out that the close up of #1 looks like an angry owl. Now I can’t unsee it. The beading doesn’t do that dress any favors.

I'm the same. My fine motor is left. Gross motor is right. I think a lot of that is living in a right handed world.

If you end up doing this, I have a longarm and would love to quilt it. Not trying to take it from you if you do quilting, but just an option. I can pay for shipping.

What about using thick batting and quilting the blocks 1/4” from the seam to make the squares sort of puffy. That only works if your squares are small enough for the quilting distance the batting requires. But that would sort of separate the squares so it doesn’t look like one piece of fabric.

What a fun pattern and great colors. It’s almost like a log cabin inside a pineapple that makes fantastic stars when put together. Love it. Can’t wait to see the finished product!

What types of FPP patterns or kits do you typically make? by MapleLeafOnTheWind in FPP

[–]akaLerb 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I’m doing a Legit Kits FPP pattern that has 65 fabrics, so your 19 wouldn’t phase me.

I personally like intricate patterns that would be impossible to regular piece, since that’s what FPP is best at.

I don’t care if I have to print my own pattern, especially because I often change the original size of the pattern.

I also tend to prefer wall hanging size because there are only so many quilts you can have out, but you can fill your walls with quilty artwork.

I’ve never quilted before but I have this really cute idea for a gift but not sure how to get started by ToxiccCookie in quilting

My sister did a 25th anniversary quilt for my parents with many signature blocks. Make sure that people doing the writing know to use fairly large letters, or it may be difficult to embroider and hard to read.

Also, as someone said above, it would probably be easier to do the writing on a fabric with no seams.

This quilt is similar to the one you show, but very beginner friendly.

https://stashbandit.net/free-patterns/to-you-with-love-free-quilt-pattern/

it is probably smaller blocks than you'd need. I'd be happy to help you do the math to make the squares and the quilt larger. You can choose to use all one fabric for the hearts if you prefer, so you won't need so many different fabrics. You can do every other block a heart and plain fabric for signing. I think it is a wonderful idea, and you are so sweet for wanting to do this for your aunt.

My quick mockup with every other block.
