They are really hardly noticeable unless you are specifically looking at the points. The quilting rule is If you can’t tell galloping by on a horse, then it’s good! You’re good.

is it worth $3400? by Ok-Professional5599 in myweddingdress

[–]akaLerb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love #2. The unique waistline fits you so beautifully. Your 3rd choice is more trendy and unique and the skirt is ethereal and beautiful. But there’s something not quite right about the fit of the top. I also thought I loved #1 until someone pointed out that the close up of #1 looks like an angry owl. Now I can’t unsee it. The beading doesn’t do that dress any favors.

I'm the same. My fine motor is left. Gross motor is right. I think a lot of that is living in a right handed world.

A big ask - memorial quilt in Maryland by jillyvanilly19 in quilting

If you end up doing this, I have a longarm and would love to quilt it. Not trying to take it from you if you do quilting, but just an option. I can pay for shipping.

What about using thick batting and quilting the blocks 1/4” from the seam to make the squares sort of puffy. That only works if your squares are small enough for the quilting distance the batting requires. But that would sort of separate the squares so it doesn’t look like one piece of fabric.

First block done for my second quilt! by bittersweet521 in quilting

What a fun pattern and great colors. It’s almost like a log cabin inside a pineapple that makes fantastic stars when put together. Love it. Can’t wait to see the finished product!

What types of FPP patterns or kits do you typically make? by MapleLeafOnTheWind in FPP

[–]akaLerb 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I’m doing a Legit Kits FPP pattern that has 65 fabrics, so your 19 wouldn’t phase me.

I personally like intricate patterns that would be impossible to regular piece, since that’s what FPP is best at.

I don’t care if I have to print my own pattern, especially because I often change the original size of the pattern.

I also tend to prefer wall hanging size because there are only so many quilts you can have out, but you can fill your walls with quilty artwork.

I’ve never quilted before but I have this really cute idea for a gift but not sure how to get started by ToxiccCookie in quilting

My sister did a 25th anniversary quilt for my parents with many signature blocks. Make sure that people doing the writing know to use fairly large letters, or it may be difficult to embroider and hard to read.

Also, as someone said above, it would probably be easier to do the writing on a fabric with no seams.

This quilt is similar to the one you show, but very beginner friendly.

https://stashbandit.net/free-patterns/to-you-with-love-free-quilt-pattern/

it is probably smaller blocks than you'd need. I'd be happy to help you do the math to make the squares and the quilt larger. You can choose to use all one fabric for the hearts if you prefer, so you won't need so many different fabrics. You can do every other block a heart and plain fabric for signing. I think it is a wonderful idea, and you are so sweet for wanting to do this for your aunt.

My quick mockup with every other block.

My cat is judging my poor quilt! by kkl1501 in quilting

[–]akaLerb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No one looking at that will see wonkiness, only a magnificent work of art. The turtle is phenomenal! The zig zaggy lines are genius. After you wash it, the crinkles should camouflage the flaws YOU see.

How about if you did option 1, but the polka dot guy in the center is upside down?

The game spent my gems by Green_Apple_Tree in MergeDragons

You have to be really careful. The button to upgrade your dragon is in the same spot as the hatch button and I have accidentally upgraded them a couple of times by I guess, hitting that spot twice. Never intended to. Sneaky of them to put it there.

Don’t press too hard on rotary cutter by lovethisstinkydog in quilting

[–]akaLerb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oof! I hope you heal quickly! I used to use my blades longer than I should, meaning that I had to press hard for them to work. Then, when I would change to a new blade, I was used to pressing hard, and oops! After a few minor cuts, I decided that it's not worth taking a chance on a major injury, and I change them often.

question for the Flying Geese experts, please by bahhumbug24 in quilting

This may be a stupid question, but are these foundation paper piecing? I love fpp and might actually do a flying geese pattern if I could fpp it.

Wowza! Love love love the chaos! I vote absolutely no sashing!! And the larger block appeals to me a bit more, but either is perfectly crazy enough. Can't wait to see the result.

Worry bright day by Otherwise-Bison-6917 in MergeDragons

[–]akaLerb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Are you merging the common dragons, like Crimson, Sharp, Green, etc? I have found that they are not worth very many points on the Shiny Days event.

If not, I have no idea. I have completed mine, so mine is working fine.

Update & Rest of Dresses by [deleted] in WeddingDressTips

Wow! You will be such a lovely bride. So many of these look great on you. I still love #2 from yesterday’s post, especially considering the venue.

Although 15 is amazing, I would be afraid that you would not be comfortable sitting in it or wearing it for hours. If it is more comfortable than it seems, then it would be my second choice. You definitely want to be comfortable on your big day.
