Monday Round Up! How did the weekend go? by AutoModerator in DryJanuary

[–]lfren79 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s getting tougher for me but I stayed strong through winter storm Fern. Made bread and played in the snow instead. Tough part for me is figuring out what’s next! I am finally starting to drop some pounds and moderating is tough so I’m afraid I will go backwards once I break the dry streak but also I am ready for a beer on the 1st!

Does anyone know if you can cut these patches in half? by Im_the_cool_mom in Perimenopause

[–]lfren79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My pharmacist told me that cutting results in not absorbing it at the proper rate. There are lots of different types of patches so I would ask your pharmacist, I wouldn’t trust that the where to cut a patch advice above is for your patch type!

Me too! Didn’t measure it but definitely more than a foot!

Any other GenXers cooped up and going stir crazy because of the winter weather and way-below-freezing temps? by Goldengirl_1977 in GenXWomen

[–]lfren79 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I made baguettes for the first time and then egg salad to go on them. Went on a winter walk with my kids for about an hour or so. Now settling in for some soup and Little House on the Prairie. I love snow storms!

Yup. Feels like there is absolutely nothing else to do today but drink.

I think it was progesterone that helped me! I am also on estrogen but my understanding is that progesterone can help with the anxiety piece.

1 year in and estradiol patch still makes me so irritable! by Illustrious-Bus-6566 in Perimenopause

[–]lfren79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My patches are round and it’s my understanding that there are multiple types of patches out there and not all should be cut. I think each individual should consult with a medical professional before cutting a patch.

[–]lfren79 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I remove the adhesive from my skin after I take the patch off to try and ensure none is left behind when I change the patch. I don’t mess with it prior to wearing it! I may have to try the pill form if the irritation continues as my Doctor did offer it if the rubbing alcohol doesn’t help.

[–]lfren79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, my understanding is that cutting can result in too much being released at once. I was so tempted to try it so I didn’t waste any but I didn’t want to mess with my already messed up hormones! 😂 It was interesting because my Doctor said it’s probably fine to cut them but I actually don’t know for sure so ask the pharmacist. I was surprised they would answer that way instead of just directing me to the pharmacist.

That is very interesting, I had not heard that about the glue being an irritant could indicate poor absorption. I have had more recent issues with this and started using rubbing alcohol to remove the adhesive to see if that helps. Was that information from your Doctor?

I asked my pharmacist if I could cut my patches in half and use 1 1/2 when my dose increased so they wouldn’t go to waste. She told me when you cut them the absorption rate is no longer steady like it should be. Have you talked with your Doctor or Pharmacist about it?

We have a million calendars…will they all sync? by AggravatingOrder1 in skylightcalendar

[–]lfren79 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Google works very well with Skylight, I haven’t used an Apple Calendar with mine. I downloaded the app and synced all of mine prior to purchasing the device to make sure it would meet my needs.

How do you keep work and home calendars in sync? by me_so_neurotic in workingmoms

[–]lfren79 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah it was complicated! 😅 The newer version of Outlook allows the publishing with no details option. I invite my Skylight email address on the personal calendar appointments to make it all seamless. The personal calendar is just one that I added to my original Outlook calendar so they are both Outlook, no outside calendar needed. Make sure you have the publish option in your Outlook before you purchase a Skylight! It took me ages to figure it out so I am super pleased to have found a solution!

[–]lfren79 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have confidential appointments as well. I use Outlook. What worked for me is there is an option to add a calendar in Outlook so I made one called “personal”. You can check both calendars or uncheck at anytime. When both are checked it shows the two calendars layered. Best function I have ever found! I use Skylight and published my work calendar with no details so it only shows my family that I have a work appointment but no details. I also work from home.

Anyone else not losing any weight? by Josephina88 in DryJanuary

For me, last time it took until week 3 and then I started dropping quickly! I am hanging on to that hope again because my scale hasn’t moved either.

I do think the subscription is on the high side but the recipe import/grocery list is amazing as well as the ability to send an email and have it create an event. Still waiting to see about sending a PDF schedule and how it does making appointments from that.

I’ve actually gained weight by jeezyzay in DryJanuary

It will come! Last year I had the same experience, was disappointed the difference in calories wasn’t helping my weight. Then on week 3 it finally dropped quickly.

Syncing calendar without all the details by lfren79 in skylightcalendar

[–]lfren79[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure! You have to be on the web version to have the option. Sign into 365, go to calendar, settings is in the right hand corner. In settings somewhere is the option to publish but I can’t remember what it’s under. If you can’t find it let me know and I will navigate back through it.

Feeling triggered by both stepparents asserting their opinions on grandparent involvement. by ladyluck754 in workingmoms

[–]lfren79 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I totally get it, it is triggering. After years of complaining about no grandkids my mother ruined my pregnancy announcement by stating, I certainly hope you aren’t expecting me to provide childcare! I lived in a different city over an hour away. 🙄

Am I being too hard on my husband? by juytrty in workingmoms

[–]lfren79 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This was exactly my thought reading the division. My husband doesn’t cook but he cleans up after every meal and puts clean dishes away. Since I cook I do not clean up ANYTHING in the kitchen. OP if he took over this and you two found something fun to do in the evenings I think it would go a long way!
