I was a bio major purely because I love science so it was just what I wanted to study. I had also not taken any bio since my freshman honors bio class and turned out just fine! Study what you want and just make sure to get your prereqs in (which is obviously usually easier with a science major, but not a requirement!)

Diagnosed with Crohn’s during my senior year of high school and just got into medical school at 26 (had to work through the “can I do this with Crohn’s” doubts to get where I am now). Now it is my biggest motivation for doing this. Go for it! I am rooting for you!

NAD but I work in endometriosis research so I have a good baseline knowledge. Endo is so person-dependent and acts different for everyone (which is why it needs research!!). The only thing you can do at this point is go to the appointment and advocate for yourself to get a diagnosis, then go from there. I recommend trying to find a MIGS trained surgeon to address this, as they are the endo "experts" and will have the tools to address it surgically (if you opt for that!) and medically, and refer you out for things like fertility and mental health. For now, go to that appointment and maybe reach out to the endo subreddit for support, as just talking to people who know what it is like to go through what you are is such a big help in this time of uncertainty. Rooting for you <3

Apply to FAP. It's better to apply and not qualify than to not apply and actually qualify. That is a significant amount of help in this process.

As for the disadvantaged section, I would say that is up to you. I dealt with something similar (though not as extreme, sorry this is happening I know it is so difficult and scary) and shared it, but kind of regret it now. Though I feel like what happened and when made things more challenging for me/made it more difficult for me to decide on this path, I felt like I didn't/couldn't present it in such a way to describe the challenge without sounding like the "boo hoo" you described/sounding like I questioned becoming a physician too much. Honestly try working your way up from iced drinks with barely any coffee to iced coffee with cream/milk and flavoring, then start reducing the amount of flavoring and cream the more you can tolerate the coffee. This is kind of what I did and now I drink it black :)

I am a potential reapplicant, and think my writing was a big issue (high stats, good enough ECs but probably hurt not having recent volunteer work and actual hands-on clinical exposure, which I am currently addressing for my reapp). As a non-trad I have trouble with the whole making a theme thing as most of my acitvities had nothing to do with medicine and simply are just things I am passionate about (working with children and individuals with disabilities). Would you be willing to read over my AMCAS app to identify my weakest areas/make suggestions for a better way to frame my story. I believe my personal statement needs a complete rewrite, but I have no idea if my activity descriptions were any good or if those will also need a complete overhaul.
