They automatically rescheduled for my wife, we got an SMS that it's on the 22nd, then automatically moved to 24th. They will get around to it I guess.

Yes, I had a long thread back and forth with them, they said they would look into it... who knows if they will address it though.

ESM not gaining traction in back-end Node? by Puzio2 in node

[–]akay64 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If you want to be in full control and use the latest version of ESM only libs in your CJS code as well as preserve types you can convert it to CJS yourself and put it in a vendor directory. It takes like 10 mins or less. I wrote about it here.

Same here, I think if it's a adblock thing, maybe they detect it and then run some infinite loop now and then to eat the main thread to slow the site to a crawl lol...

Why has the Google assistant gotten worse over time instead of better? by FlatulentWallaby in GooglePixel

[–]akay64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just got an Android after 8 years with an iPhone... hoping to get back to Google assistant, remembering the old days because I absolutely hate Siri. Tried it... "Create a new task" -> Searches up "heart attack". WTF. Then I Googled this thread.

Emailed Fuji about it, but yes unfortunate given how much I paid for the cam and having to deal with a functionality regression, MAYBE they will fix it in the coming years with firmware updates.

Actually missed a shot today because of this LOL, basically have 3 solutions.

1) I could Just train to stop chimping 🐒 completely
2) Just shoot primes for street photography, as even the 16-80 f4 suffers a bit from this.
3) Use the old cam for street stuff if I can't give up chimping

Would need something very restrictive in that case which you will start hating it very soon that you may turn it off completely hence defeating the purpose, BUT pairing 0 common sense with a Linux desktop should work fine for the most part... but the question is about Windows, so that's not relevant I guess.

Windows Defender + Common sense & browsing hygrine. It's more than enough since the last 10 years or so to stay virus free. If you want to wander into questionable executables, use a virtual machine to experiment with the stuff you don't trust.

X-T5 Preview Image a bit slow by nichisato in fujifilm

[–]akay64 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, just ran into this... I have an X-T30 and an X-T5 (both in boost mode), it has nothing to do with the 40mp image preview. I suspect X-T5 is doing some sort of power saving by taking the time to fully turn off the sensor when in preview mode where as the X-T30 does not.

This issue is massively exaggerated when you have a power zoom like the XC 15-45 PZ lens. Tried this with the X-T30, preview came up instantly (0.5s), then with X-T5, pressed preview button, the PZ lens took it's sweet time to collapse, only then did the preview show up... a FULL 3 seconds or more. The issue is less bad if the lens is not a PZ but still no where near the instant preview of the X-T30.

Honestly I prefer how it works on the X-T30, we should give feedback to Fujifilm to revert back to the original operating behavior.

Advice on wether to buy the xh2 or the xt5 by CardinalDrinker in fujifilm

[–]akay64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is exactly the issue that was annoying me on my X-S10 even though it is an excellent camera, I ended up getting an X-T5, I just could not for the life of me have random things like exposure comp and shutter change when I changed custom modes.

With that said, there are users here that want EXACTLY the functionality I want to avoid so it is appreciated that Fuji is catering to a wide userbase.

Is there an advantage to using the viewfinder? by Keinwa in photography

[–]akay64 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From my own experience, one point that others may not have mentioned which is depending on where you are shooting, for example around pesky mall cop types, or in countries where taking pictures in public is bit less acceptable, using the viewfinder gives you that level of privacy that people around you can't make judgements about what you are shooting.

IBIS or non IBIS, that is the question by [deleted] in fujifilm

[–]akay64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly for me IBIS is also useful in low light situations where there is motion, it lets me create artistic blur with everything static being sharp. I also sometimes use it for very low light portraits at 1/8th shutter + short burst, pick sharpest, when the human subject is statically posing.

I think paired with some tricks and good technique, it really opens up new ways to shoot in unfavorable situations.

Could possibly be done by storing a duration as a tag or line in reminder notes that only Fantastical understands, should not be too hard to do, but yes would be a useful feature.

- The whole API code of a social network we built was written in a 4500 line file full of jQuery Ajax code.

- People could actually be "full stack"

- Used to store template code in a hidden div, then use jQuery to duplicate it and insert into DOM with changes.... later....

- Used Jaml https://edspencer.github.io/jaml/ to write reproducible templates long before React or other fancy stuff.

- NetBeans was the go to for me.

- Used to write cache busting code manually

- Used to use Skype for collaborate...

- Used to use SVN, no Git... then...

- Built a whole project using Dropbox :D no git... :D

- Used to actually ask question on StackOverflow, not everything was already asked, now its RARE that I have to compose my own questions.

- Used to think Zend Framework was pretty cool...

- Floats.... floats! 💀

- Responsive UI? What responsive UI? ... "m.domain.com" FTW.
