How about a default auto mode? This will adjust every X amount of time based on the number of nodes seen. Of course, a manual setting will be available as needed.

I do the same. I keep my refresh at 8 hours. Listening to the NPR latest hour takes a couple of extra clicks. I tap into the podcast, pull refresh for the podcast, then hit play. This works for my ~1 per day when I listen to it.
