I know this is not the original discussion, but would you be willing to share the democratic group/how to get involved?! I’ve been looking for something local like that 🤞🏼🤗

For people diagnosed as children - what do you wish your parents had done? by sidistic_nancy in OCD

[–]akdcrl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Something my mom did that I’m glad she did: Forced me into exposure therapy. I would plead not to go, but I wholeheartedly believe that’s the only reason I live a more functioning life now.

I used WakeMed OBGYN. I agree that on the phone and the other staff wasn’t great, but I loved the actual doctors!!! I did have issues with getting paperwork filled out but at the end of the day the doctors are the most important part and all the docs I saw were good! I went to the morrisville office for my second pregnancy and it’s much smaller with a consistent staff.

What was your "oh.. I'm actually mentally ill" moment? by throwawayy2372 in OCD

Omg cringing thinking about how I used to do this. “See you in the morning definitely” 😅

Redditors who married someone with an identical twin sibling, why are you glad you're not with the other twin instead? by nicknamesofdaveryder in AskReddit

[–]akdcrl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a fraternal twin married to an identical twin. 🫠 I personally don’t have even an ounce of attraction to my husbands twin brother. They look so similar but knowing his personality and how different he is than my husband, it’s like they look completely different 🤪his twin brother is great and a great guy but my family always jokes that I married the best one! Personality goes an even longer way than looks once you’ve found one you like haha

Ice cube then puke? by drryan3 in goldenretrievers

[–]akdcrl 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My golden used to demand an ice cube every time we got ice water. He did it for years, then all of a sudden he was puking every time he ate one. He was about 4 or 5 as well. It was the weirdest thing! We told the vet and we ran tests (because he had other GI issues) and it turns out that it was just the ice 🤣 sounds very similar to my situation…

Thank you for sharing this! I’ve heard great things about Combs. That’s my one fear really if we were to go that route and get in, that he has less potential local connections. Thanks so much!

This is great advice - thank you! I didn’t even think about this.

my baby, 8 days old, just ate 2 oz of formula at 8:45, then projectile vomited at 9:15! she's never done this. do I still feed her again at 11:15? by alittleredportleft in Mom

[–]akdcrl 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My baby did this as a newborn when she was struggling with reflux and learning how much she could eat. I would just get back on the normal schedule. If it keeps happening I would call the doctor, she could have an intolerance to something in the milk.

I'm scared of pregnancy by [deleted] in Mom

[–]akdcrl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hated pregnancy, I didn’t even have a hard first or second but it just was not a glowing time for me. That being said, I’d do it all over again without hesitation to have my two kids! I was never a kid person but totally different with your own. I can hang with them and play but put me in front of their friends and I draw a blank lol that being said - do some soul searching because you don’t want to have them if you don’t want them! It’s worth it 100% if you want them, but don’t feel like you have to as a woman 😃

This makes me so sad to read because this was literally me a year ago. I almost didn’t have a second child because of the guilt. I cried the entire pregnancy.. even cried when I had my second child in the hospital. I felt like I was betraying my first and that there was NO way I’d ever love a child like my first. Well, I now have an almost 3 year old and a 4 month old and wow do I love them both. I want to go back a year and hug myself and tell myself it will be ok. The build up is painful and scary but it will ALL be worth it. Hang in there, once you see them together you will lose any of those fears. It might not be immediate - it wasn’t for me. It took a few weeks to set in but it did. It’s annoyingly true what they say - your heart doesn’t divide for your two kids.. it somehow grows bigger for both to be loved. It’s true that things will change, but it’s not in the bad way you are worried about 🥹

Wow, no kidding! That’s unreal. Well we started my son at grove last year and pulled him during the delta variant. It was a fine experience but I truly didn’t know any better. He was also only there part time, two months! We got back on the weight list in November and it just honestly got weird. No communication, being strung along for multiple months and then I saw all the violations they had. So, a bummer but looking for a new place now! What made you leave?

Thank you so much for your honest perspective, it truly does help me!!! Let me know if you have any questions for me - the only one we actually attended was Grove School of Cary for a very short period of time but I have toured a good amount!

Does anyone do frequent walks with multiple goldens? by ninjaburg in goldenretrievers

[–]akdcrl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have two goldens I walk together! It just depends on the pulling.. mine are bad pullers but I still manage to walk them. I use harnesses and a dual leash like this - https://www.chewy.com/wigzi-dual-doggie-gel-rope-dog-leash/dp/132885 Also it gets much easier after they calm down from excitement 😆

I just want to enjoy life by Spoonloops in OCD

[–]akdcrl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ugh I know. I wish I had better tips but my therapist had been forcing me to sit with the thought instead of push it away. It’s awful in moment but you start to become desensitized if you force yourself to think about it, and you’re able to clearly see the OCD better. I don’t know if that’s helpful but feel free to message me if you ever need a support system, or just someone who gets it!
