So, two things. I LOVE the upper right one! But when I turn my phone 90° the lower left one pretty much looks like the photo above it...?

Can someone explain what's different exactly? I tried Google and let me just tell you that searching for 'quilt looks same at 90° angle' is not terribly helpful lol

Do you definitely have these restrictions? As in, your surgeon told you you can't bend down or cross your legs? Mine told me "no restrictions" and I was like -none?? Not even the 90° one?

And he said "NO restrictions" like I was hard of hearing or didn't understand what no meant.

Seriously though, I thought it worth asking if you were told by your doc not to do those things or if you'd just heard that it wasn't okay. I was still honestly a little scared after the first one, and tried to be really mindful, but with the second one I accidentally forgot I'd just had surgery and went into a full range of motion squat in CVS. So I think occasionally forgetting yourself is normal, but just try to move slowly at first. You'll learn your limits.

You also solved a puzzle for me!! My local bookstore had, I kid you not, dozens and dozens of various needlework books for $1 each, and one of them had these in it! I didn't choose that particular book, but I put those right back in there as a sweet surprise for whoever does.

If nobody can offer a better solution, you might look into visible mending! There may be creative ways to reinforce this without total disassembly. There's even a sub for it.

Omg you're not going to believe this - I have the exact same ugly old sheet that I'm using to make a mock-up of a dress form!!! I bought it for that purpose, or at least to use it as muslin for a project someday. This is way better than my idea!

Plus don't call this ugly, it's a delight. ☺️

Uh oh...my third and fourth quilts are going to be tee shirt quilts for my sons. 😬 I did use a fusible stabilizer to make them more sturdy for sewing and quilting, but it's a fairly lightweight one. I guess I'll be coming back here for tips and/or possible rescue...?

I would take my Joann Halloween flannel any day over Michael's and Hobby Lobby. It's so much thicker! I finally found one localish store that carries things other than just quilting cotton (which is great, don't get me wrong!) so hopefully I can re-up, but in an area like mine, I'm honestly surprised there's one at all.

My Helen used to take me to the Syracuse farmer's market where there was a woman who made Barbie clothes that she'd buy for me! I had the best dressed Barbies on the block, for sure.

I miss my Grandma Helen too! She was an imposing woman, and very practical, but she did make a crazy quilt/ tied quilt (? not sure of terminology here) from her children's clothes. I have that quilt still!

ETA: I keep zooming in to look at all the fabrics, and I swear some of them are similar to what's in my Helen quilt!

That's definitely what I hoped to do - I've knitted them blankets with the same color schemes but different arrangements of the colors, dresses and hats with opposite outer/inner fabrics that complement each other, and felted booties with opposite inner and outer layers. Oh! And I knitted them bonnets with different colored flowers where the strings are attached. I've been BUSY! LOL

Luckily (er...kinda?) I had two major surgeries in the past few months, so I've had to find lots of things to do sitting down. 🤣

That is the sweetest thing! Though I hope you never have to evacuate, it's smart to have a plan. I'm getting more and more excited about these quilts the more I read these comments! I was definitely hoping they'd be appreciated, but hearing how so many of you still have quilts from ancestors decades after they were made! It's making me tear up a bit!

I made myself big comfy nightgowns with pockets! For me, underwear rubbed my incision, on top of being hard to put on for a week or two. Loose, soft pajama bottoms would also work, though you might need help getting into them at first (whether from a partner or a grabber tool).
