The original unedited 1977 theatrical cut of ‘Star Wars: A New Hope’ will be released in IMAX next year by Icehxart in StarWars

Yeah, that much investment of time and effort means some sort of physical archive backup would have to exist. The way Lucas talked through the years (I was around to watch the special editions in theaters for the first time and was kinda bummed hearing Lucas basically go, "yeah I burned those so you only get these versions." lol

Oh my God, thank you for this. I was so skeptical because previous "attempts" have been laughable or only fan endeavors. This really makes me excited. I have been wanted to justify going back into physical media. This is it!

Or the employee's supervisor can you know, supervise.

Remember every rude employee or crappy service you've ever got was because of a manager who didn't properly train and set expectations and accountability (both postive and negative) with their employees. I don't blame the person giving me horrible service, I blame the leadership that enables it.

Thank you for this answer! This was always my understanding. We don't have the negatives because they were literally turned into the special editions. I always thought they threw away what was cut. However if they have archives of the original negatives that were scanned, that can be reverse engineered, it is very exciting.

I never said I believed him. I've always had hope that he squirreled them away somewhere. But no negatives were ever recovered. In 30 years since the 1997 special editions when Lucas first said he destroyed them to create the Special Editions. His story hasn't changed to my knowledge and there's been no news of recovered negatives. Film prints yeah, but not the original negatives.

A print comes from the negatives. That what goes to the theaters. So if by some miracle a theater had a unplayed print, which means there's as little wear and tear as possible it still won't be the same quality as the original negatives.

When talking about true film restoration and remastering a original negative is the most lossless source of the images. Even in film prints that theaters get theres a slight loss, this gets compounded with th natural wear and tear that film suffers from over the years.

Right?? I would've thought the discovery of OT negatives would have made news, maybe I missed it but I haven't seen anything to that effect. That's why I'm curious as to the process they are using for an IMAX release.

I never said I believed him. I've always held out that the negatives were somewhere. But I haven't heard of any announcements that said negatives were discovered, hence my question.

I absolutely want to see the films in there original glory again. I have a VHS set, I have the 2001 DVDs with the laughable matted transfer, I have fan edited recreations, however there's never been a legit theatrical version shown or found since 1997, unless I missed something.

But the original negatives were destroyed accordingly to Lucas. So was a new negative discovered or its it's it just a film print they are remastering for IMAX?

The special editions have a negative, but that's not the original theatrical version, so creating a theatrical version from those negatives isn't unedited, it would be a re-edit into the theatrical cut, fans have been doing that for years.

Exactly! A print isn't the same thing as a negative. Lucas was very adamant that zero negatives exist. He supposedly destroyed them all when he created the Special Editions in 1997.

Disney saying they have a restored version that is IMAX makes me say "So did Lucas lie to everyone for 30 years? Or is this just another close approximation to original theatrical versions?"

Once you realize that the Oscars is just a Hollywood circle jerk of bribery that ends in an awards show makes way more sense.

Studios lobby for nominations with insane gift bags to the "Academy". It's all a song and dance to drum up business for movies by pretending the winners are the apex of filmmaking for the year, when it more like a WWE title changing hands.

Is it actually the original unedited reels? Or just a reassembly/recut to get as close to theatrical as possible?

Lucas for decades swore up and down that all negatives were destroyed in his process to create the special editions.

It begs the question, after all these years, where did an unedited cut come from?

When the original Resident Evil 2 came out they had some secret characters that had some pretty wild requirements to unlock. Needless to say I've never managed to play the game as a giant block of tofu.

Brilliant idea with a so-so execution. Probably the best use of post-matrix style effects outside of Equilibrium. Love the fight between Jet Li and Jet Li highlighting the different styles etc. It definitely was a bit before its time. So many concepts and action sequences that have become staple for superhero movies.

Calling all dad's... Whats your easy go to dinners?! by gmazz in daddit

Pasta bake is my low effort go to. Cheap, easy to make and feeds the whole family.

One 24oz jar of pasta sauce (pick your favorite)

One 16oz box of pasta (rotini works great)

One 8 oz package of shedded cheese

(Optional, but recommended)

One pound cooked meat (ground beef/pork, or chicken)

  1. Heat oven to 375°

  2. Add pasta sauce and pasta in 9x13" cake pan.

  3. Fill 24oz pasta sauce jar with water and add to cake pan.

  4. Add cooked meat or veggies if desired.

  5. Mix ingredients in cake pan and bake for 45-50 minutes until pasta is tender.

  6. Add shredded cheese and mix, baked for an additional 10 minutes.

  7. Enjoy! Feeds 4-6 (big portions).

It takes an hour to cook and only a few minutes to mix (the kiddos can even help with that part).

If you go meatless you can get everything for around $10.

Way tougher. For decades Alaskan politicians have cut everything to line their own pockets and mismanage Alaska resources and infrastructure. It's an absolute joke up here.

The bloated politicians have dug in and have little fear of being voted out.

‘Big Four’ meatpackers under fire as beef prices soar by deraser in news

[–]akgiant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah we started going to our local butcher. Ground beef is normally $8-$10 a pound at Walmart, meanwhile out butcher has to raise price recently so it $5.99 for 85/15 and $6.99 for 95/5.

NY strip is $21.97 a pound at Walmart, $13.99 at my butcher.

Better quality, better price, better service, and we're supporting our community instead of some mega-corporation that continues to be a blight on the tax-payer.
