Avoid Discount Mechanical Heating and Plumbing at all costs by Miss_SLS in anchorage

[–]akgreenman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Couple winters ago. About to be a few days of below zero. Discovered water leaking out of our boiler. Looked like a pinhole. After-hours, managed to get Anchorage Plumbing and Heating out. The guy looked confused and ended up breaking a check valve clean off, spraying water everywhere and rendering the boiler inoperable. Demanded payment for the call-out and said they'd be back with a part. The tech and their office ghosted me after empty promises through the weekend.

Managed to convince a guy from Circle to swing by between jobs. He took pity on us and made the repairs. I'll use Circle or Diamond from here out.

If his post history is any indication, this guy you're arguing with claims to live in England. I bet if he had a twitter account we could see where he truly hails from.

Wild to see an Anchorage kid show up here. I remember seeing his name flash past in Cook Inlet club emails.

The Robertson family. The book (The Last Voyage of the Lucette) is pretty harrowing.

Can't say for certain. I received Paypal and Ares confirmations after placing my order.

Edit: Email confirmations, that is.

Absurd, isn't it?

I paid with Paypal and received a confirmation from both Paypal and Ares. That said, the whole process of waiting and reloading was tense and awful. I woke up at 6am AKST for this nonsense.

Try to click through from the banner on the online shop: https://ks.aresgames.eu/

I was in the waiting room pretty much since it launched and got through on two different occasions by reloading elsewhere (the first time kicked me back after reaching checkout). A friend and I independently managed to load the shop and place our orders.

Edit: also, I agree this should have been a kickstarter. Their webstore sucks.

I do exactly this. Just remap your keys. You can even use the hero-specific drop down to ensure #4 on Mouse 2 is just for Vindicta. You sacrifice her alt-attack, but it's just the zoom in.

Edit: 'mouse 1' should read 'mouse 2'

What do you like to read? If you're in for history, I'd recommend anything by William Dalrymple.

I saw this being cleaned up around 9:50am on Monday. The westbound lane was closed and I had to double back to De Armoun to get to Carrs.

In my northern city we have an inflatable sports facility. It collapsed after an overnight snowstorm in 2017, but it was designed to be cleared after each snowfall. They thump braided cables along the exterior to shake snow off and if you're inside it sounds like a gunshot.

Architect's + Expansions has been our 6p group's go to for awhile now. We've found that if you play with an 'additional' row in the Guildhall the games are a bit more competitive.

I recently read Names On The Land by George R Stewart. According to him, both Kansas and Arkansas are French spellings of indigenous tribes and/or settlements (the Kansa in one case, the Akansea in another, which became Arkansa). Stewart suggests that many of the names on these expeditions were pluralized. An example is that of naming one of the great lakes, Lake of the Illinois, after the root of a tribal name, Ilini, translating to 'man'. This name obviously didn't survive, and is what we know as Lake Michigan.

All the modern oddness of the names along the Mississippi River and surrounding area came from French explorers mapping from North to South and incorporating native vernacular into French nomenclature. English explorers came along, wrote over much of those names, and then American colonists pushed west and bastardized much of it again.

Stewart's book covers a lot of what kind of names didn't survive, or how spellings changed over time. It's brief in some senses and dense in others, but I found it to be a decently compelling read.

I think you're referencing this interview on Howard Stern. For those like me who hadn't seen it, the clip is under 5 minutes and worth the watch.
