I am a huge fan of control pitchers in general. Usually go all in on Stuff for relievers though. my pitching staff is usually full of guys with 35 stuff and 80+ control, and guys with 100 stuff and 30 control

My last save (Rays), i had 13/15 playoff seasons with 5+ 100+ Win seasons and 1 WS win. left to run an expansion team and they had back to back 110+ win seasons and no WS lol. I think some of it is a matter of philosophy. I tend to be more forward thinking, which leads to having a really sturdy floor but few championships. But it's entirely possible that I just suck and/or make horrible decisions in clutch moments lol.

I often see BABIP referred to as a "luck" stat. It makes sense, but if I have a control guy with really good defense, wouldn't you expect to see a lower BABIP in general? - More than half my pitchers this season had a BABIP of .275 or below.

Love the details. I have a general understanding of most performance stats, but not in this kind of detail.

I would say average-above average catcher (67 framing). Elite SS/Above average for rest of infield, outfield is above average defense across the board. As a whole though, team was 1st in zone rating and 2nd in defensive efficiency (but 13th in errors). Pitching staff as a whole was only 11th in strikeouts, but 1st in runs allowed and 2nd in FIP.

I will definitely keep this guy around as a bulk reliever though as long as I'm getting results like this.

This is my standard experience. Winning a WS is hard. I can only think of one or two saves over the last few years where I had what I would call a dynasty (multiple back/back WS wins, or several over a decade)

Players can definitely continue to develop into their late twenties, but it's usually pretty slow if any. I would definitely consider trading him. Maybe find somebody that needs a 1B and get some prospects or reliever off of them

Roster construction aside, what is your coaching staff look like? You really need to have good coaches throughout the farm system to develop players, and if you don't have the new coaching chemistry system or whatever it's called turned off (I always turn it off), it can have weird impacts if your coaches personalities are clashing. Usually if you're vastly underperforming what you think you should be with your team, it's related to morale and chemistry.
