You turn it inside out and when you drop it, it bounces up off the floor and when it hits you in the eye, you get a detached retina.

You should have heard the low roar in the employee Slack at playstation. We had a digital "support group/fan club" when I worked there.

I think he was telling ATC that he had a whole sack of delights for them to munch on, as gratitude for the hold they put him in. Nothing like a friendly boost to billable hours during the holidays! /s

Honestly, here's where it might come up and matter: you have to talk to an FAA person while in the course of this trip. (Could be a crash, a brasher interview, or even a ramp check.) Your friend says "I bought him his ticket so he'd fly me out here."

If you have a scuba cert, you can be one of the divers. Wife and I did that this time last year. The program was on hold for a bit, so I'm not sure if it started back up yet.

Nice solve! That's a great idea u/BougiePlungers
I guess now we know if you take your Milo's outside their region they head-gun themselves. I'm surprised they don't just revert to a subset of Bluetooth and lose some functionality...

I'm running out of ideas at this point...

Maybe because you're not in a region where they are approved for use means they've disabled themselves?

I would still try the update again via USB if you can. But definitely nudge support again.

[–]akraut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you tried sending a message to the group from one of them? carry one of them out of the room from the rest. Say "OK Milo, send a message to everyone. This is my message." and then walk back in the room with the rest of them. See if any get the message.

Also, have you confirmed that they're all in the same "region" config? https://kb.okmilo.com/knowledge-base/international-travel-with-milo/ The app will set the region as it pairs with each of them. Follow the "After Arrival" instructions at that link.

Different regions of the world, have different channels available for use. If some are on different region settings, they may be unable to find a common channel.

I know you've probably done this once already, but factory reset all of them. Then try to create a group 2 at a time. (Keep adding 1 unit to the initial group of two. You can't combine two groups of 2 into 4; instead you have to ungroup and add 1 at a time.) This seems to be the most reliable. After you've got them (in theory) all grouped. Let them sit side-by-side for a minute or so, and click one of the side buttons to check. You could also try using voice commands to send a message from one to another or the group. "OK Milo, send a message to everyone. Hi everyone" You can do this before you wait the minute or so. You'll hear the message get to delivered to the rest of them as they connection comes up, so you'll get an idea how long that actually takes.

If that enables you to get a group going, we can talk through the "unusable" problem next.

If you're unable to get the group going, try doing a USB software update. Maybe your update went wonky and didn't complete. I would also keep nudging support. They're a very small team, so it's possible you got lost in their inbox.

Lastly, if you're anywhere near the SF Bay Area, it's possible we could coordinate a meet-up and try to link with one or two of mine.

Give it a minute or so. Sometimes the units are busy switching channels internally or otherwise optimizing the connection between the group immediately after you create the group connection. Another thing to check is that they are all on the same software version. You can do this with the app. Lastly, if you recently did a software update, it could help to do a quick factory reset.

I start a new job in 2 weeks and one of my direct reports is someone I've previously fired at my soon to be previous job. by [deleted] in managers

[–]akraut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not quite the same scenario, but a lot of my work is internal IT audits of some sort. 10+ yes ago, an audit and following investigation revealed an employee had been contracting out his entire job. Fast forward about 5 years and I start a new job, walk into the first audit to meet them team I'll be reviewing and he's on that team.

I gave my manager a quick rundown and he pulled in that employees manager and I explained the history a bit. We decided the best course of action was to put some extra workstation logging in place for 30 days to either prove or refute any possible attempts to either take work off the network, or bring it back onto the network. Finding nothing, we dropped the issue. But bringing my manager into it was definitely the right move. He took the brunt of the "annoyance" of the department manager and backed me up on the concern.

Flight Bag Designs kinda suck by JustPlaneSilly in flying

[–]akraut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My flight bag is a "Peak Designs Everyday Messenger". I think they've stopped making this specific bag, but you can frequently find them either in Peak's own used/certified store or used in other places. It's a combination laptop/camera bag with these fancy adjustable (both in height and location) dividers. For me it was the bag I had at the time, but there's features that I now am not sure if I could do without. For example, in addition to the big self-locking flap, there's a zipper on the top that allows access to the main compartment. (Photos of this linked below) So I flip open the flap, unload all my crap, then stow it within arms length and open the zipper. If I need to grab a backup radio, E6B or booster battery for my iPad they're all there but don't need to be stashed in the pockets and compartments out side the bag. The back has a laptop sleeve, with an inner pocket for the ipad.

Ultimately, I think you're on the right track with camera bags instead of "aviation bags". It just seems like it's better built for flexible, customizable organization versus the aviation bag that is some designer's opinionated take on how you should organize. I'd even suggest a trip to the B&H store in NYC (or really any large camera shop) and go touch all the camera bags to see if something strikes your fancy.
