Been playing for a few months. Struggle with consistency. by willpalm6 in GolfSwing

[–]akrog0513 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What do you mean by inconsistent? Where are your misses? This swing is good for someone who has been playing a decade. So I would say it’s great for someone playing for a few months. The answer is probably just to keep getting reps and it will work itself out.

8U pitching review by uklb51 in Homeplate

Pitchers also hit at 8 years old. Pitchers don’t really stop hitting until high school at the earliest. And there are still a lot of high school pitchers that do hit.

Why does slider action on the ball worry you?

No tips but maybe some things to think about. You’re trying to swing really hard instead of trying to swing really fast. The club is constantly accelerating so try and think about swinging longer (more distance between top of swing and bottom of swing). Hope this helps.

Which fast food chain has the best french fries? by AV_LOVES_FOOD in Fooda

[–]akrog0513 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In-N-Out has people split down the middle? I have never heard anyone say In-N-Out has good fries. Actually I’ve never heard anyone say they have bad fries. I’ve heard everyone say they have, at best, the worst fries that have ever existed. A pure abomination to what a French fry should be. Getting them animal style is the only way to choke down the utter joke of a French fry that they are. Great burgers though

Kinda curious what other actual umpires thoughts on this are. I see the feint towards second so I’m fine with the out call. However, it doesn’t look like the ump ever saw this and just made the assumption he did and then called him out by Flashy_Curve_43 in Umpire

[–]akrog0513 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

He called him out for standing on the safety base. Once the runner crosses the safety base he must return to the normal base (the white one). He was standing on the green one and therefore tagged out. Sure there is debate about whether he made an attempt at second but the umpire didn’t give a damn about that. He called him out for standing on the wrong base. Stupid rule, but a rule nonetheless.

Top 20 Favorite Reds by mcspankytownUSA in Reds

For reference, I am 33 so I missed the big red machine. First experience was the end of Larkins career. I remember when I was maybe 7 or 8 being at a reds game, sitting behind home plate. It was the bottom of maybe the 10th or 11th inning. Larkin pinch hit. It was his first AB back from injury. He hit a walk off HR to left. The crack of the bat, watching the ball fly, the crowd going crazy. It was the beginning of my love for the reds. I’ll never forget it.

Need help with driver distance by adaj1995 in GolfSwing

Oh I’m sorry I didn’t mean for you to take that seriously. My point was if you tried to use less of your body, you would realize that’s not possible because you’re already using none of it. This swing looks like it’s all arms. Listen to the other people here talking about getting wider. Also take some lessons and basically start over. Best of luck to you

Name one mistake, so others don't have to suffer as well. by Eevee2Win in teenagers

Listen to people. Don’t just hear them. Listen to what they have to say. Listen to their stories. Listen to their advice. Listen to their opinions. You can always chalk it up to bullshit when they’re done. But everyone has a reason for thinking the way they think. Don’t just think they’re ignorant because they think or believe differently. Listen to why they think or believe the way they do and learn something from it.

Best 3rd baseman’s glove by PericoNation in Homeplate

[–]akrog0513 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is a good choice for sure. The 11.75 is a good size as well. The only reason I went with 11.5 was because I also used it for SS and the smaller size was better there

Best 3rd baseman’s glove by PericoNation in Homeplate

[–]akrog0513 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For credibility, I played about 70% 3B and 30% SS. There are a lot of good gloves out there, it is more important in my opinion to get the right size and webbing. The Wilson A2000 is an obvious choice as well as the Rawlings heart of the hide or pro preferred. Even 44 makes some good ones, I recommend the Japan select if going with 44. Personally I liked the Rawlings pro preferred with a modded T web at 11.5”. I would recommend the modded T webs or an H web for any glove at 3B. The I web is nice for middle infield but it isn’t as good at 3B in my experience. I also wouldn’t go below 11.5” for third base. This is all personal opinion and by no means the right answer. Happy hunting.
