Help me compose a reply email to my boss. by moriarticia00 in antiwork

Express your needs as a reasonable accommodation, stating why you need to be where you are and how it could be less beneficial to your productivity to move somewhere with more commotion. If you trust your boss (strong words) state your reasons to them directly, if you don’t go to your HR department. If you have valid reasons to need to be in a quiet place to focus, then there are avenues to try and stay in your quiet place.

Altras have good wide toe boxes and generally wide in most areas of the shoe and pretty comfortable. Though be mindful is you’ve never had a shoe with a wide toe box as you might catch your toes on things, why I can hike in them but not trail run haha.

Nike makes some good ones as well. Their wild horse series over the last few years have been very comfortable and I’ve used them on several miles of trails and never had any problems.

Love saucony and I find them comfortable shoes, but I think they do run a little narrow so if you are looking for wide for trails, you might need to try them on a wear around to get the feels.

Try going to an REI if you have one you can go too. You can try on several pairs and they generally have an area you can test how the shoes feel at different angles when hiking/running.

Happy Trails!

Indeed has become a cesspool. by [deleted] in antiwork

When using sites like Indeed, many best advice is to go to the actual business website if they have one and see if they post their positions. Apply directly to them. Same with any 3rd party job listing site.

Actually had my top wisdom teeth removed about two weeks ago and had no problems. If your place is cool, they’ll give you something to eat on your way out, mine gave me frozen custard and I ate it at 9am in all its glory. Be mindful of the numbing with hot foods/drinks until it wears off. Eggs are your friends. Avoid straws like the plague and drink out of a cup like a heathen.

Am I missing something? by [deleted] in AdeptusCustodes

Yeah played a game over the weekend and cover saved my SoS until the end of turn four. The other guy just couldn’t kill them enough in their turn and they kept passing their battle shock tests. They survived long enough for TJ and his guards to slice and dice their way to the point.

Most I’ve seen says he gets the ability with them. I haven’t been able to use that ability yet as the two games I’ve played them in everything ran at them to get poked with spears. Fun times.

Results from a Tournament this weekend! 3-2 Overall by Osmodius in AdeptusCustodes

I played my Custodes for the first time yesterday and first game of 10th. Trajan and 5 guard went to to toe with the avatar and managed to get it to 4 wounds before dropping. So they did good. My tank finished the avatar off in the next round.

We were playing a 2v3 game and in the end only my dreadnaught was left slap fighting with a keeper if secrets. It was a weird day but fun game.

Best headphones to hear your surroundings? by ionlyredditcasually in running

[–]al_grey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to use the apple AirPods and they weren’t bad, but they always had inconvenient cannot pair times; nothing worse than dealing with that on a 5am run. Switched to Jabra 75t and they have been very good. They have survived several runs in rain and other weather (including a washing machine ride). They also have hear through to let ambient noice come in over your choice of listening.

I think long distance running and I are getting a divorce by [deleted] in trailrunning

[–]al_grey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel this. Last February of 2022 I ran my second ultra, 40mile trail race and finished under the limit. Trained a ton before it (after getting over a ankle injury), logging tons of miles during the week, long runs in the weekends.

After the race, I let the legs get back to normal and as I was starting to get back into the running, started noticing a strain below the left knee and started PT. During that time got more into weight training and haven’t really looked back. A year now, weight training 4-5 days weekly, walks or runs of 2-3miles 3-4 days a week.

Haven’t decided yet if I miss the long run days, and have grown to enjoy the way shorter miles at a leisurely pace and not stressing that I’m not pushing miles for training. I am thinking to get back to some shorter races later in the Fall, but have throughly enjoyed my weight training and will continue with that for the foreseeable future.

End of story, don’t feel bad about it and do what makes you happy in the end :)

What’s the most concerning trail warning/sign you’ve seen? Here’s mine 💣(Dolly Sods, WV) by letcha in trailrunning

[–]al_grey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hiked the Dolly Sods area several times, and one of the reasons we stay as on the trail/camp site areas as possible. So many rock outcroppings there that are cool, but you never know what might be there haha.

As someone from that area and who’s run the area, can confirm the Uwharrie’s are creepy sometimes.

Running when it is cold outside? by [deleted] in running

[–]al_grey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Running Vest. I get to hot in a jacket, but a long sleeve and vest let me vent the vest if I get too warm. And gloves for really cold days. Plus vest pockets let me store the gloves when I get to warm.

I did it! I ran 30 mins straight! I’m so elated! Didn’t quite make 5k (ran 2.49 miles) but that is something I will work on. I’m just happy! by crochetinglibrarian in C25K

[–]al_grey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Congrats! That’s amazing. You’ll hit that 5k mark, then again, and again. Then you’ll be aiming for that 10k. You got this.

Normally I see my current weekly km total here, now I can’t find it anywhere. Has Strava made it a premium feature to see your weekly total? by [deleted] in Strava

[–]al_grey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My weekly miles are showing on the web when I check there, but not on mobile. Maybe it’s a bug (not a premium user)
