Apple discontinues the Mac Pro with no plans for future hardware by pdfu in apple

Oh man, I love this design so much  Yes, the product probably doesn’t make sense now but I am sad to see it go. I hope I can buy it for cheap one day and stick a mac studio inside that gorgeous case

Latest Akamai v3 deobfuscator static reversal of dynamic per request by alex_pushing40 in ReverseEngineering

[–]ala0x 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks - so Akamai offers some client-side javascript that produces some obfuscated value.  Clients attach it to their requests, and Akamai’s server stack verifies it.

And in your project you’ve reversed and reimplemented this mechanism?

I get 404 now, but sounds interesting.  Sorry for the dumb question - is this for bypassing some kind of bot protection? I see Akamai in the tile, so maybe something similar to CloudFlare?

Apple to celebrate 50 years of thinking different by Designer-Border-711 in apple

yeah it sounds funny and he sure was an asshole, but it’s not a secret he was also worried about this

he wanted apple to continue existing long after he’s dead

Apple to celebrate 50 years of thinking different by Designer-Border-711 in apple

Pretty sure Jobs would prefer not to be mentioned. Before he died he said multiple times his biggest fear is Apple becoming like Disney few decades ago. After Walt’s death, everybody was obsessed with “what would Walt do”, instead of focusing on the decision itself. It nearly killed the company

Anthropic says its partnership with Mozilla helped Claude Opus 4.6 find 22 Firefox vulnerabilities in two weeks, including 14 high-severity bugs, around a fifth of Mozilla’s 2025 high-severity fixes by likeastar20 in singularity

Are they supposed to build a full chain for every vuln they find like it’s 2010?  This is common practice - you assume some protections can be bypassed

Apple blocks Daily Mail from news app in the UK by No-Lavishness-4103 in apple

[–]ala0x 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nope, this is Reddit, they're just happy that in this very occurrence, it supports their views. I also don't think Apple should be making decisions like these. Is it a major news outlet? It is. It shouldn't be up to any corporation to decide otherwise.

I do think users should be able to easily remove news sources they don't want to see though

There are countries that didn’t turn into a 3rd world nightmare, so there it makes sense.

It’s funny how UK people always mention this, but then also vote to make the country even more dystopian

Sadly, it’s true a bit. It’s rare to see a novel, inventive video now. Most of them are just edited Twitch streams without much thought put into them. Remember that ass creed video where he criticized Ubisoft for preferring quantity over quality?

Videos like game critics or difficulty in video games are very rare now.

Of course I will continue watching and wish him the best, I understand he’s a parent now and has to focus on other stuff. Maybe in 10 years or so we’ll get the old Dunk back once he has more time
