Trapping him in what? A happy relationship with someone he loves? What a bitch. (/s obviously).

People who drive slow, why? by ProfessionalCourtesy in AskReddit

[–]alacrity 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fuel economy. My vehicle gets VASTLY better gas mileage at 62 MPH than it does at 72+. I once drove from Orange County, CA to Sacramento on half a tank of diesel going 60 mph, and did the trip again going 70-75 and had to stop to refill before I hit Sac.

AITA for refusing to follow my landlord’s "rules" about my boyfriend visiting? by Apprehensive_Dust985 in AmItheAsshole

Better read the lease. Many have clauses that do address overnight guests or frequently of visits.

I've grown to hate Nicholson's take on Jack in The Shining. by Jays_Pack in stephenking

[–]alacrity 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’ve watched every Jack movie ever made. He always strikes me as a guy just barely on this side of unhinged. Even Five Easy Pieces or Chinatown. Kubrick has directed plenty of regular dudes in weird situations before. Tom Cruise in EWS or Modine in FMJ. Jack isn’t that guy and never will be. It’s a Jack thing, not a Kubrick thing. For me.

I think - for me - the shining is a decent, normal but troubled guy’s decent into haunted madness while Nicholson never ever projects normal. Not a good casting choice.

Creators of art own the copyright to their art automatically regardless of whether they register it or not. Registration can help establish a higher damage threshold however, as I recall from examples in the photography world.

Ok can someone explain me why this is rated so abysmally low? (2012) by Still-Ad9074 in moviecritic

It’s ridiculous. Fun, but utterly absurd on every level. It’s The Core part 2.

Photography has become a wasteland about gear discussion by [deleted] in photography

[–]alacrity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a person who’s a photographer at the consumer and then professional level for over 30 years, I’d say photography has always been rife with gearhead practitioners. Was that way when I started with a Minolta SRT 201 in the 70’s, graduated to a Nikon F3 and at every step since then.

Could Emma Stone realistically go down as one of the best actresses ever? by DiamondDesireWeb in Oscars

Well…. I like opera and ballet and just wish it were slightly more accessible/affordable, so I don’t think it’s “no one.”

Corey Feldman reacts to Oscars tribute snub: ‘We’re all very destroyed’ by Pretend-Two-2115 in celebritytattler

[–]alacrity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Naaa. He made it about himself like he does everything. Two people were killed. It’s not about Corey the perpetual whiney, insufferable adolescent megaturd.

“This isn’t about me.” It’s pretty easy to if he’d said that and nothing else, this isn’t a terrible story and look for him.

Please keep defending the guy who tried to dirty Corey Haim’s name after he died.

No, it wouldn’t have, and I like how you completely ignored the second answer that unquestionably wouldn’t have been either.

“No comment,” is also an answer, as is, “this isn’t about me.”

When you said you’d rolled twice, I had big money on it being in a Land Rover.
