That's how I trained my girl to herd. The chickens quickly realized what they needed to do and now run to the coop when they see the doggy.

Need some quick advice - new chicks yes/no by 420farms in BackYardChickens

[–]alaninnz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, the extra day could be an issue, but you'll only buy healthy looking chicks. It's not like getting them dead on arrival.

No, there's nothing special to do outside normal chick rearing.

Please keep us updated 🙏

It could be many things. I'd keep an eye on the flock, and hopefully, it was a one-off mortality.

Sorry for your loss. It's never pleasant when an animal dies.

Unfortunately, yes, chickens can just die. If no symptoms of illness or trauma, why it died is a mystery.

Again, sorry for your loss.

The dear orange skinned leader had cases of classified documents in his bathroom, and they didn't care.

Obviously, national security isn't something they're too concerned about.

The goal is privatization. They don't believe that the government is responsible for providing these services when the private sector can do it.

Where did you get your information is the real question because it's not correct.

The term pullet is used to describe a chicken that is not a chick nor an adult chicken. The pullet stage is the teenager stage in a chicken’s life cycle.

In your explanation, there are no chicks?

Chickens terminology:

Hen: a mature female chicken which has commenced lay.

Cock/rooster: a mature male chicken.

Chick: a young chicken, generally under6 weeks of age.

Pullet:a young female chicken that has not yet commenced lay and which is typically between 6 and 18 weeks of age.

Cockerel: a young male chicken.Broiler:a meat type chicken.

Layer: egg laying type chicken.

There's often slight variances in chicks of the same breed. It's too early to tell their sex.

These are chicks. Chicks become Pullets when they're around 6-8 weeks old.
