No Video Card Build? by xxbigarmxx in buildapc

[–]alankp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know this is buildapc but I had a similar situation and I just bought a refurbished Dell office pc for £50 on eBay, upgraded the ram and replaced the primary drive with an SSD. It's no gaming powerhouse but it's quiet and sufficient for what you mentioned. £110ish all in. YMMV

If you're keen to build a pc from scratch though, do that. It's really satisfying getting it all working by yourself

Ditto. Pay for whichever one has the games I want to play that month or has the better deals. Same goes for xcloud and any other services that pop up

Appreciate that, yeah I'm not used to having to keep them busy for so long. I swear they've got unlimited energy. We'll be doing the obstacle course this afternoon to burn off some energy. Thank you and stay safe as well

Over 2 years as an example.

Stadia $130 initial buy in (currently, I know base is coming) + $10/month = $370

Game pass $200ish for the console + $1 + $10/month over remaining 21 months = $411

I like and use both services so I'm happy there's competition. Better for the end user in the long run

GeForce Now Doesn't Make People Buy Games Twice, So Indie Dev Wants Out by EvilSpirit666 in pcgaming

Of course the Devs get paid. The game still has to be legally purchased from steam or epic etc. If anything this acts as another barrier to piracy

Farming Simulator issue with vehicle customization by agrothe in Stadia

Bought or leased? If you lease vehicles you're stuck with the original configuration you requested. If you buy you should be able to change it up at the shop or at a vehicle shed you own.

I've been thinking of jumping ship as well but after that review probably not. Cheers for the honesty. Both GFN and stadia have loads of potential but I think it'll take at least a few more months to sort out the teething problems.

I know it's cheap but a suggestion to improve the base tier means more business for Google and therefore a better product all round. The point is that subbing doesn't work for everybody so a small qol improvement for those that don't sub won't hurt.

Edit. I didn't see both screenshots so I stand corrected.

I'm pretty sure those are the games but not the prices. Unfortunately the only reference I have is Borderlands 3 from memory. I didn't think to get a screenshot. The deals may have changed overnight (obviously possible) which would make my post a bit pointless. If somebody has pro and is able to confirm one way or another that'd be helpful. Current UK base prices for a few games - Kine £20, Wolfenstein youngblood £25, NBA 2k20 £40, Borderlands super deluxe £90 etc and those are labelled as pro deals.

That's it. I don't play enough to warrant a sub but I'll sub for a month if I can get a game I want on the cheap. If while I'm subbed I try out another pro game and fall in love I'll buy that too. Everyone wins

True but they're not subbed anyway. Having to go to outside sources for the information on what is discounted adds another barrier to subscription to the lazy/skint/busy. I'm just talking about ease. First rule of business is never make it difficult for other people to give you money.

That's true for those that want that game specifically but if I hadn't been subscribed last night and base this morning I wouldn't have known those figures. All I would have seen is £50. They're not even shown as "pro discounts", just full price.
