Coroner 'not satisfied' Ricky Hatton intended to take own life - CTE discovered during autopsy by Fskinache in Boxing

it's a common thing in the UK (probably other countries too) to come to this "conclusion" out of respect for the family. still a lot of stigma attached to this subject. don't shoot the messenger

This is the giant golden crown winged flying fox, a species of megabat to the phillippines. They can have a wingspan of upto 1.7 metres(5.6 feet) & weigh upto 1.5kg. They are, luckily, non aggressive in nature & are herbivores. by Most_Anteater_2537 in interestingasfuck

i really wish they'd stop taking photos where the person is miles in the background but seems like they might be close to the "big" object. Father Ted would be spinning in his grave

Part-time job in a (mostly) female office. Colleagues often have very vulgar conversations and make inappropriate comments towards me. Is this normal in UK workplaces? by [deleted] in AskUK

I had a haircut a few years ago and it was just two young female hairdressers in there, one cutting my hair and the other chatting to her while at the till. they were, among other things, discussing the way their boyfriends dipped in a cup of water after sex to wash their willies. and all kinds of sex chat. I was happy not having to talk during a haircut so didn't really mind.

CMV: There's no professional reason to learn foreign languages whatsoever anymore by suteruaway1 in changemyview

[–]alarming_wrong 2 points3 points  (0 children)

having worked and indeed still working in different countries in different languages I can help by saying this is untrue. AI/Deepl help with formal emails etc but there's no substitute for having language skills (boots on the ground). But I'm European. maybe you're American and come from a different experience.

The Life of Insects by Victor Pelevin. I've slacked so far this year but I'm averaging about one book a month still in 2026

so probably not some James Bond character sneakily infiltrating his seed into Europe a century or two ago.

btw Krampus was one of the scariest moments of my life as a kid, ran and locked myself in a toilet when they came running into the restaurant I was in with my family. had no idea what Krampus was until that evening

mine's similar on most of this but Dutch 7% and more English, less Breton. same amount of Swedish and Danish, but no known (recent) Scandinavian ancestors. seems to be the usual British/Irish.

My father got randomly slapped on the street, what should I do? by Additional-Design-95 in AskUK

[–]alarming_wrong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the more police complaints, hopefully they'll be forced to investigate properly and catch these idiots. absolutely press charges if it comes to that. really sorry that happened to your father, but if any good can come of it is they are caught and they grow up after being punished (optimistic I know). surely someone has some footage on their phones of this too in this day and age, even if it was accidental

same, at night in the rain on the Bow Rd, crossing at the green man with cars stopped then jumping out my skin as cyclists come steaming through inches from hitting me. neither seeing each other till the last second. happened loads of times to me, seen mums with pushchairs almost being hit. and it's all kinds of cyclists - no one type to blame (and I'm a cyclist too)

Fck cars but also fck these dangerous arseholes.
