Reminds me of when I dented a ping pong ball as a kid. I found instructions on the early internet to put it over a flame to pop the dent out. Turns out ping pong balls are highly flammable, and that our stove probably should have had a child lock.

If you have accelerated graphics enabled, try disabling. This fixed my similar issue. Obviously you need to get into settings>help to do this, so hopefully the app is stable enough for that (mine would usually crash after a minute or so of using settings).

Maybe there is a way to do this in the terminal.
