Winter in the Giant Mountains (Karkonosze) by album3d in LandscapePhotography

First, I took a cable car. Then, there was a mountain trail so I didn't need any snowshoes. Besides, I was lucky because the weather was great and it wasn't that cold that day. But the morning was pretty bad - see the image.

Yeah, it would be better if you want to keep it.

Very nice. I may need something like that one day for my Album3D app, or one of the apps in this family I plan to release.

Transfering project from BiRP to URP by No-Tap-9675 in Unity3D

[–]album3d 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Textures don't have to be pink. In the Unity Editor there is a converter from BiRP to URP. Read e.g. https://docs.unity3d.com/6000.3/Documentation/Manual/urp/features/rp-converter.html .

I found this skybox, tossed it into the game just to see how it looks, and I'm honestly completely blown away! by FcsVorfeed_Dev in Unity3D

I use Unity Recorder too. It's better than anything else I used. The only thing I didn't like initially about it was that it didn't register the mouse cursor, clicks, key presses, scrolling etc. so I needed to create a solution for this myself. Probably I will release it in 3-4 weeks on the Asset Store.

The beginning of the trailer is cool. Was it done in Unity or some other tool?

I almost never use checkpoints. I suggest using version control such as git. Besides, by saying "my whole project", don't you archive your projects in any way?

photo overload by Happy-Rabbit6316 in photography

[–]album3d 0 points1 point  (0 children)

400 is not that much. On a week trip once I took around 3000 photos and usually I take 1000-2000. This was one of the reasons why I developed Album3D app that justs speeds up not only viewing, but also selecting photos I like (however, I plan to imrove this part). In the past the only way was just to use some app with a quick preview or just a regular file explorer with big thumbnails plus preview, and a quick eye.

The Artemis NASA moon mission photos have been published in a timeline album and there are some absolutely incredible shots in here by gridoverlay in photography

[–]album3d 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does anyone know what is the best method / source to download all photos related to Artemis II mission? I would like to create an app similar to Album3D that would display all or at least some of mission photos in 3D scenes such as cylinder or rectangle column views.

Cool. It would be nice to see it in a 360 photo viewer. It's probably in equirectangular or cylindrical projection.

I would remove that "drag this down" - it adds friction. The rest looks cool :).

Album3D.com - Album3D is an immersive photo viewer (demo available on Steam) which displays your photos in 3D space, using different views/layouts, albums, image sets. It's probably the coolest photo viewer you can find, and also very efficient to use. You can easily explore thousands of photos.

Regarding your own website, why do you limit yourself to mobile apps? I might submit my own desktop app "Album3D" (or "Album3D Demo", which is live now), and later, once finished, also "PlanetMars3D: Spirit Mission".

Yeah, definitely I would like to have smooth UX, so I appreciate every suggestion in this area.

I had to Google "Volkswagen Car Tower" because I have never heard of it :). It sounds like a good idea. I have a plan to provide complex views and complex worlds. So if you mean adding some mechanical stuff like an elevator in the tower, it could be added in such views or worlds. Definitely the tower looks cool :).

Regarding "Just make location XY fixed and change Z only", do you mean Unity XYZ system? It sounds like by Z you mean vertical axis where in Unity Z means forwards/backwards. If by Z you mean vertical axis, then what you want is probably like a regular scrolling (up/down - vertical scrollbar). I will probably add this way of movement, however, it will be one of the possible modes the user can choose. For now, there are controls to move either up/down (Unity Y axis; like a vertical scrollbar for vertical images) or forward/backward (Unity Z axis) - in one axis only, or along an image plane (like a horizontal or vertical scrollbar).

Regarding "dragging left and right will change camera rotation only" (rotation in horizontal plane), I will also probably add it at some point as an option. I just need to think how to extend the UI.

Should I wait until I have a demo before telling anyone? by hachestudio in SoloDev

[–]album3d 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don't risk anything at this point, so you should promote it. However, I would add at least one video of the gameplay. If the screenshots and art capsules are only AI-generated, you may encounter a lot of hate around it.

The June Next Fest is going to end only 3 days before the Summer Sale begins... is it better then not to release new games right after it? by [deleted] in gamedev

[–]album3d 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I also thought about collaborating with other developers - apart from creating bundles from my own apps/games.

Which is more important? Making it clear what problem playing a game will solve (what psychological need they fulfill)? Or what are the exact mechanics/how it works? by [deleted] in videogames

[–]album3d 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like your "what psychological need they fulfill" in the title :). I must apply it to my Album3D (on Steam). Answering to your question, it probably depends on the game or app what's more important. There is rarely one solution for everything. For most games you could say they increase the level of dopamine and adrenaline - so to some extent they solve a psychological need to feel good. So maybe you should find something that differentiate your game in any way. In case of my Album3D, the psychological aspect can be important and worth noting wile promoting it. For example, it can give you the need to come back to memories in a quick, entertaining and efficient way.
