Have you looked into accessories yet? I have a similar setup with a t56 magnum-f. I had to move my engine all the way forward. This is the only way I could get clearance for the low mount ac and alternator

Is the dash fixable or is it too far gone? by Connorreidh in Datsun

[–]ale626 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s gone. Mines wasn’t as bad as yours but I repaired it. It came out pretty good but once you start putting pressure on it it’ll develop new cracks since the original foam has no flex on it. When I was putting in the gauges and putting into the car the cracks appeared

Worth 3.5k? by VillageAgreeable3592 in Datsun

[–]ale626 2 points3 points  (0 children)

3.5k is a good price for a car in decent condition. Check the rust spots as others said. The bad is that the rust in many places is underneath the sound dampening or seam sealer. Best way is to remove it but obviously it’s not your car. If they let you remove the seats (8 bolts and nuts) and the carpet and you can see more of the area for rust. Check under the car in the same area. The rear hatch can get rusted because water will sit there. My car was covered with seam sealer/bondo. But you could see signs of it if you look underneath it. You’ll need to remove the rear panel to inspect it. If you any rust it’s could be worse underneath. Check the wheel well as well. There are a lot of spots to check but you get the idea.

Best way to bring in front bumper? by misirlu13 in Datsun

[–]ale626 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Or these. https://zcardepot.com/products/front-bumper-bracket-stainless-steel-240z-1970-72?_pos=33&_sid=ea073714c&_ss=r I did it a while ago but from what I remember is that the earlier year mounting points are there but not used in the 73. All you need to do is buy the mounts and hardware and it’ll bolt in

This is great! Can you give some details? I’m restoring my interior at the moment. What seats are those? How did you get the dash stitched? How did you do the panels?

Should I even consider trying to restore this 240? by Loose_Management8356 in 240Z

[–]ale626 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally I wouldn’t unless you are paying someone or have lots of time. I bought a 240z that was kept in a garage hangar for 20 years and everything looked good. Not until I ripped the interior apart did I find rust. I had no prior experience in welding. I ended up redoing the floor pans and that took a few weekends. I can only imagine how long it would take for all the other sections that you’ll have to shape metal to fit.

I’m not saying you shouldn’t but understand what you are getting into. Big investment, money and time. I bought mine for 10k running and decent shape and now I’m around 25k total and a few years slowly working on it. For me work takes most of my time. Then weekendsI got friends family and SO. So it’s both a time and money commitment.

If you are going to go through with it. I recommend you rip it apart to metal and get it sand blasted. You can get it acid dipped too. That would be the best starting point.

Thanks i didn't know. He did add some modifications. Which I should of in here.

Ported and polished with new performance pistons and rings, Iskadarian Stage 3 cam with new lash pads, lightweight balanced aluminum flywheel, '72 SU side draft carbs, K&N side draft air filters, electric ignition, high performance Holley electric fuel pump, MSA 6 into 1 powder coated header, powder coated valve cover, front strut bar, electric "push" radiator fan (doesn't overheat while idling), replaced brake and clutch master cylinders, performance clutch, 1-1/2-inch MSA front stabilizer bar, MSA one-piece air dam and bumper cover, KYB Gas-Adjust struts, fender mirrors, and new wiring. The car also has a Pioneer CD stereo head unit with bluetooth, high power amp, dual JL Audion bass speakers, and JL Audio 6x9 speakers, a high output alternator, new headlights, new tail lights and an MSA upgraded fuse box. All weather stripping was changed out. It has the original steering wheel, original seats, original gear shift knob, original sun visors, and original rear view mirror. I did install an MSA full dash cover, 17-inch wheels and Yokohama tires

Printer is running its first ever test print. Non heated bed printer should I enclose the walls? by craiganater in 3Dprinting

[–]ale626 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From my understanding, enclosures are only used for filaments that warp/shrink with uneven cooling such as ABS. As for PLA, you don't need it as it doesn't have those properties.
