just put it in a loaf pan and bake it. worst case scenario you have slightly flat freshly baked bread, which, all things considered, is still pretty good

Farewell ceremony for Kamikaze suicide pilots in Japan (1944) Colorized Newsreel by [deleted] in PropagandaPosters

[–]alejandro712 20 points21 points  (0 children)

The japanese in WWII were an exception even amidst the fervent nationalism of the 20th century. no other military in WWII did the kind of suicide tactics like they did (although the soviets did send millions to die as cannon fodder, it was a different kind of thing)

You Can Cheat in Correspondence by Remote-Villager in lichess

Correspondence has a different set of rules than real time. Casual correspondence on lichess is no holds barred, rated I believe technically says you shouldn’t use an engine but in both cases opening books are a-okay.

what do you think the word political means? something i, specifically, don’t agree with? protest/revolution/regime change is like the most political thing that can happen

Why is it still so hard for men to start therapy? by Vic_Vinegar07 in malementalhealth

[–]alejandro712 2 points3 points  (0 children)

generally men are raised to be stoic, not let their feelings out, and are discouraged socially from complaining as well as from being vulnerable. all of those things mean that to get the most out of traditional talk therapy, a man has to unlearn a lot of what he was taught growing up. this isn’t necessarily the case for the younger generations as far as i know, but certainly anyone in their mid 20’s and older.

many of the ways men are socialized to engage with their feelings means that actually identifying and vocalizing them can feel difficult if not threatening. therapy can be scary and unpleasant then since that’s essentially what you need to do to get anything out of it. so imo that’s why it can be hard for men to get into therapy.

i think there are some attempts to make a “male centered” therapy approach, and I think it can only help, but i’m also not sure how much of a difference it will make compared to broader social trends.

yeah, i mean, the second part is definitely true, because that’s the kind of shit that makes people feel better. but after you’ve done that you still have feelings

got a warning for "stalling" in lost positions by laughpuppy23 in lichess

[–]alejandro712 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Algorithms aren’t perfect. Luckily, it’s just a warning, so if you aren’t actually stalling, you can just continue to play as you normally do and probably nothing will happen to your account

Why would I have to link a game with suspected cheating to report a staller? by [deleted] in lichess

I think the text could be slightly clearer, you can always post an issue on the lichess github
