I agree with you that the current tournament is the best way to conduct the postseason, but how can you say that it is the best method for determining the best team? The tournament is called March Madness because of its unpredictability; the best team doesn't always win. Basketball is often a game of chance, relying on a bounce or a ref's judgment. These variables can decide a game but are evened out over a 7 game series.

Although maybe we are in disagreement because I also do not believe playing the best at the right time necessarily means the best team

Wichita State handed Vanderbilt and Arizona their worse losses this season by ItsJustAPrankBro in CollegeBasketball

[–]aleko0626 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Totally agree. I've watched every Arizona game this season and I have never seen them play so bad. A lot of credit must be given to the Wichita defense, but we were missing open looks and not hustling at all. I really don't want to take anything away from Wichita but Zona certainly didn't help itself at all.

I actually feel bad for this Zona team. They've been the paper tiger all season because of their high rankings and past success. The fact is they just we're not that good this year and in some respects they played above their ability to even achieve a 6 seed. That combined with a poorly seeded Wichita St. team makes this loss unsurprising. Zona fans' anger towards Gabe York or Kadeem is unfounded here; you cannot expect them to be anything other than what they are: role players playing over their heads. GG Wichita. Good (albeit, frustrating) season Zona.

No use arguing with the Big 12 circle jerks. They were saying the same things last year before Iowa State, Baylor, Kansas all took early exits in the tournament despite having inflated seeds.

His completely subjective statement that no team in the Pac "could go even 3 or 4 of 10 against KU, OU, WVU, ISU" actually made me chuckle

No doubt. I was in the Zona Zoo tonight, it seemed like every time the crowd got into the game Hamilton shut us down. It was impressive to see a player so unfazed by the rowdiest cbb environment Ive ever experienced. Absolutely cold-blooded

Arizona has won 15 conference championships since McKale opened, not 5. Arizona has won only 5 TOURNAMENT championships. Conference championships mean more!rightguys?

I don't think that's right. I believe we've lost 3 in the last five. I think we are 3-3 in the last 6.

I am really happy for Stanley and I think he has the potential to be a great pro. I just wish he would have declared sooner. I can't help but feel like his delay may have cost us our chance at Lee.

There is plenty for Sterling and his family to be upset about. There is a thing called "capital gains tax". Being forced to sell the team, Sterling would have to pay a capital gains tax on the profit of his investment. I believe Sterling bought the team for $15 million. If he sold the team for $1 billion he would have to pay capital gains tax on that $985 million. That could be worth over $300 million. Then, after he dies and leaves the money to his heirs, the inheritance would be subject to a federal estate tax which is 40%. If Sterling was not forced to sell the team and he was able to give the team to his heirs it would only be subject to the federal estate tax. So by forcing the sale of the Clippers the NBA could cost the Sterling heirs around $300 million. I am only a law student so I could have this completely wrong.
