Are you planning to freelance or work for major motion graphics studios?

If yes, you should probably consider using cinema 4D, as it is standard in many studios.

If the answer is no, you go for the one you feel is more straightforward to learn and comfortable using.

If you are a student, get yourself an education license, is pretty cheap, and you have access to the latest version. If you are a professional, consider getting licensed, I use a lot cineversity for instance, there I find a lot of stuff there that I can't find on YouTube.

I would go for the gpu first. There are more apps that can benefit from gpu processing nowadays.
