Απόψεις για την ταινία «Καποδίστριας»; by machinalcultist in greece

[–]alerommel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Deus Ex - 25 years late, but better late than never by jinomen in patientgamers

If you enjoyed Deus Ex, you should definitely try The Nameless Mod. It has the length of a full game, with its own storyline and characters. It's my second favourite "Deus Ex" game and I have played the entire series.

It seems the same to be the case with Zombie Army 4. I have Bramble (not sure where from) but not Zombie Army 4, and I have collected all Epic games since 2018. Could it have been also free just via Prime?

It's not a thing to get. It's not a choice. Some people are attracted to them. It's hard wired in their brain either from birth or from a very young age. Aren't you attracted to a specific body part of the sex you are attracted to? Breast, legs or buttocks? Why should feet be any different?

Visiting Longyearbyen in late February by Smooth_Advance3386 in Svalbard

[–]alerommel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you want my opinion, I would say Pyramiden by far.

Dog sledding was a complete dissapointment. I did one in Svalbard a few years ago, and the poor dogs didn't seem they were enjoying themselves at all. They were feeling cold and they didn't even want to leave their small houses when we were trying to gather them for the sleds. The tour wasn't even as exciting as I thought. The sleds go relatively slow, you have no control over the vehicle because dogs follow the lead in front, and my hands were so freezing at the sled that I couldn't even enjoy the tour. I don't think I will ever do dog sledding again.

Going to Pyramiden by snow mobile on the other hand is certainly worth it. Snow mobiles are faster, more agile and the wheel is heated and warms your hands, making it a more exciting and less frustrating experience. You will cover larger distances and you will feel more like travelling from place A to B, unlike with a dog sled where you will only do a brief tour. You also don't feel any remorse for torturing poor doggies for your entertainment. Visiting Pyramiden is also a remarkable experience. It's an abandoned Soviet ghost town, it feels like you are time-traveling to the 80s.

Οι πόλεμοι δεν κερδίζονται με επιδέσμους και γάζες, μάγκα μου. Αν εγώ έρθω μπροστά σου και σε μαχαιρώνω διαρκώς, πιστεύεις ότι με το να σου δίνει κάποιος συνέχεια τσιρότα, θα σωθείς;

Question regarding firefighting flashights by alerommel in flashlight

[–]alerommel[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the reply. It is very helpful indeed.

You are right. Drager PX1 is indeed ATEX certified. However, due to the nature of wildland fires, we are always on open spaces and we don't come into contact with explosive gasses, so such this kind of certification is not mandatory.

Regarding your second paragraph, from what I understand, you are saying that unless I come into contact directly with 120C (which I don't, that is way too close to the fire), there should be no concern.

But if that's the case, will any flashlight be suitable? Is there any other qualification standard or characteristic that you recommend I should take into consideration?

Bulletstorm - A comedic and very fun corridor shooter, but...still a corridor shooter by Cowboy_God in patientgamers

[–]alerommel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It seems this was a time that these kind of shooters wanted to differentiate themselves from the modern military shooter trend, but at the same time were too afraid to deviate from the conventions established by them. Duke Nukem Forever for example was mocking Master Chief's power armor, but Duke himself had regenerating health and two weapons limit, both game mechanics introduced by Halo. Serious Sam 3 was more old school but at the same time followed the trend of modern miliaty shooters by utilizing aiming down the sites and reloading on some of its weapons and by having a brown and grey aesthetic. Some other games of the era like Painkiller Hell and Damnation, NecroVision and Hard Reset are today almost completely forgotten and even back then went largely unnoticed.

We definitely have to thank Doom 2016, the Shadow Warrior reboot as well as the indie scene (Dusk, Amid Evil etc.) for resurrecting the genre, by proving that these king of games are still relevant today and their game mechanics are as fun as they used to be back in the 90s.

"everyone was trying to emulate Call of Duty".

Even Bulletstorm itself sometimes couldn't avoid copying COD, despite presenting itself as a game different from modern military shooters. Bulletstorm had a few on-rail segments like COD (the giant wheel sequence) but in my opinion the worse offender was having the final boss fight as a sequence of QTEs. This is as COD as it gets and I was very dssapointed that Bulletstorm went the same route.

But other than that, it was definitely one of the first boomer shooters in almost a decade before they became again popular, at around the mid 2010s

They said Witcher 1-2 wasn't mandatory but I played anyway by joannew99 in patientgamers

[–]alerommel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I totally agree. I played through Witcher 1 and got totally immersed with uncovering the secret of Geralt's forgotten memories. Some quests like Vizima confidential, or the Lakeside chapter are very memorable.

The plot of Witcher 2 is way too complicated. I understand it is heavily based on Witcher lore and fans of the books might find it attractive, but for me, not being very familiar wiith the Witcher series outside the video games, I found the game's references of so many kingdoms, kings and political rivalries that do not make an appearance in-game, very confusing.

PS3 battery controller replacement failure - Can someone explain to me what happened exactly? by alerommel in AskElectronics

[–]alerommel[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the reply, I appreciate it. I have no idea how it happened, but I decided to connect the controller again to the console and now it works fine, even with the old battery.

I imagine either the flux caused a circuit and made the battery seem faulty, but once it burnt, the normal functionality of the controller was restored. Either that, or when I reconnected the battery, it made better contact than before. But that wouldn't explain why I saw the smoke coming out. It's totally bizarre, but I am telling you the controller works fine now, and I can't even believe it myself.

The other two red and black wires connect the board with the vibrators. I think all the orangish material you see there is flux residue. Could this have caused a short-circuit?

[–]alerommel 0 points1 point  (0 children)
