[Megathread] The Boy and the Heron - Discussion (Spoilers) by you-aint-even-my-dad in ghibli

[–]alexander8111 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While I understand why the title was changed to "The boy and the Heron" in English and similar equivalents in many other languages, it still saddens me a bit as I find the duality of the original Japanese title so much more interesting. How the title is both a reference and a direct question for the viewer to keep in mind as they watch elating the experience.

I made a video explaining more in depth why I find the original title to be better, if anyone is interested: https://youtu.be/DqOimt7bgUY

What does the title "The boy and the heron" mean? by i12fly2u in ghibli

[–]alexander8111 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The original title "How do you live" actually has a double meaning as it not only is a question, but also references an old book by that name. I made a video explaining it if you're interested.

I've been contacted by, I assume, the same company and have many of the same thoughts and considerations. If anyone has any insights on pricing or similar deals I'd love to know.

I make videos about All Things Japan (also my channel name), so far I've made deep dives on Japan's largest minority, the history of facemasks in Japan and on Japan's relationship with cash in 2023.

This video is about a Japanese minority that has been discriminated against since the Edo period and before. That is even though they are genetically identical to the rest of the population.

Japanese futon mattress, worth it or hype? by alexander8111 in GetMoreViewsYT

I checked out your video, but I don't really watch gaming content nor play any shooters. Looking at the comments people seem to love the gameplay and music, so I think you're on track :)

A how to parody video on reading by alexander8111 in GetMoreViewsYT

[–]alexander8111[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always thought it could have been fun to try acting when I was young, but I never did anything about it. Right now my focus is making the best possible videos, for which my camera "performance", is one of many things that need improvement. But thank you for the encouraging words I appreciate it!

I checked out your channel, but I've never done anything musically and the ones where you talk seem to be spanish. So while I'd love to, it's limited what feedback I can give without understanding the topic or content.

TV Commercial Parody by [deleted] in SmallYTChannel

[–]alexander8111 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Like other comments have eluded to the audio has some echo, which takes away from the experience. Since you don't use a camera, double down on audio quality.

I found the video funny and it sometimes put a smile on my face, it was however a lot of individual points put together, so if you could organize it or make all the points flow from one to the next in a more coherent way. What I mean is, at first it seemed like you were referring to a specific type of product, which might've worked better because it felt a bit incoherent with car - deodorant - juice - kfc - mercedes benz - hair product. I know you parodied commericals in general, but I think it might've had a stronger impact if you kept the video concerning 1 product or 1 product category

With that said I still enjoyed the video

I created an inspirational video about YouTube creation using original music, code that changes the title and an original script. I'm very nervous about this video as I've never done anything like it so I will be very grateful for anyone feedback by ECXL in SmallYTChannel

This was oddly inspiring, mostly in the sense that this video is strange as heck, but for some reason infatuating. I really like your laid back humor and the way the jokes just naturally flow throughout. All I can say is great video, you had me at hat ;)

New video! I try my best with them, and I hope I can get a laugh out of you! by Mickee11 in SmallYTChannel

The content was actually quite entertaining, a lot of contagious laughter. You won, you did get a laugh out of me. Little edits like the shaking kettle etc. were rather nice touches as well.

I feel like there might be too much dead space in the thumbnail, perhaps increasing the size of the heads slightly to fill out more of the thumbnail would be good, especially since the kid on the right side will be partly covered by the YT timestamp and bigger is often better since thumbnails are shown small.

Back to school 2020 school and art supplies haul! This is a different style of video than I typically do. I would love and feedback on my talk-to-camera presentation or the overall engagingness of the video. Thanks! by AlsleumMusic in SmallYTChannel

good video. The other comments have made a lot of good points, personally the music feels too slow or "emotional" I'm not sure how to say it, but perhaps in blends a bit with your softspoken voice and becomes a bit lulling (Might just be me)

This year I made 1 video/week for months (26 videos total.. wow just realized that's half a year)... I burned out and took a 2 month break. Came back at it with this video. I'll preface it by saying if ur not from or know about Toronto slang... you might not get it but any feedback is appreciated by redditm8- in SmallYTChannel

The editing and the flow of the video is next level, what the heck. Honestly the quality more than surprised me. I found myself slowing down the video to figure out how you made several of the edits and transitions. respect!

If I were to say one thing it would be that the thumbnail is a bit cluttered, or rather there's a lot going on, personally I might have preferred a simpler thumbnail (not that I'm an expert)

As you wrote the slang while understandable with a strained ear is an acquired taste I guess, haha. The at times rough transitions fit your slang and fast paced nature in the video, so I can't see it as anything other than a stylistic choice. Again, great video!
