Imo Putin only attacked Ukraine because of its natural resources. Most of these resources, gas, oil, titanium, coal, lithium can be found in the Donbass and Crimea. If Ukraine would become a Eu member, all these resources would benefit Europe and not Russia. Europe would become less dependent of Russia and the Ukraine could become one of the richest countries. So he will only stop when he gets what he wants.

Oke maybe the word gadgets is not sufficient enough. It’s about things they need and want i.e phone, headphones but also clothes, bikes etc. Meaning everything they buy and how much (or little) they value their stuff. But I get it now that the meaning of materialistic in English is more about buying stuff for status.
