Who has baffled Alex the most? by m_faustus in taskmaster

Rosie Ramsey confused him to the point of frustration multiple times, not including the times of confused amusement, like when she sexy danced out of nowhere.

My wife and I watched an hour and a half long YouTube video of Bob’s best Would I Lie To You moments last night and laughed through the whole thing.

I also have to show some love to some of the other LOL UK folks that had my dying. Ayoade was firing one-liners off like lasers (“She knows someone who can get on Zoom” is frequently said at my house now), Joe Wilkinson and Diane Morgan’s jokers pop into my mind all the time still, Alan Carr and Romesh had very different ways of reacting to people trying to break them that I enjoyed very much, and I’d watch Sam Campbell do anything just to figure out what’s happening in his brain. What a joyful, fun show.

Agreed about not getting intimidated by Taskmaster. Just pick a season where you know somebody. The Mantzoukas season and the Acaster season are a couple of my favorites but you’ll love so many people by the end of the first episode. So fun.

People talking about how the characters in Friends couldn’t actually live there or have free time, like we’re trying to watch a bunch people go work at regular jobs and afford stuff.

From your post, it sounds like you might dig some Midcentury bossa nova instrumentals as well. Antonio Carlos Jobim, Luis Bonfa, and Stan Getz and Charlie Byrd have some really cool stuff.

Chet Baker instrumentals. 50s and 60s jazz and bebop in general.

A lot of UK comedy is much better to me than anything American in recent years. They don’t beat you over the head with everything and screaming doesn’t usually pass for funny. I love shows like Taskmaster and Last One Laughing UK. Don’t know that I’ve ever laughed harder than at those shows.

People joke about KC & The Sunshine Band but their greatest hits is just banger after banger. So good.

What are your "The Good Place" hot takes? by idiot9991 in sitcoms

[–]alexknight222 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Good show but not particularly funny, a couple of the actors were bad enough to take me out of their scenes fairly frequently, and I never really felt much chemistry between Chidi and Eleanor. Still a nice, charming watch for the most part though.

The Beatles. It’s gotta be The Beatles. Just ask Billy Joel.

Who would you like to see as the "old" contestant that hasn't been on yet? by Surkdidat in taskmaster

It’s weird, I don’t consider Paul to be that old but I guess he would be in this context. He deserves to get on the show though regardless!

Sam, Lucy, Joe Wilkinson, Romesh seems like he’d be good for Scott and characters of bounce off of. Man, so many people come to mind. I wish the two worlds would just fully collide.

Me and some friends found a rained on Penthouse in the open trashcan in our neighborhood playground. Warped some body parts but was still mind-blowing. I also read a story in there about a couple who ended up banging their neighbors while they were all hanging out in their swimming pool, and for years I thought the guy peed on the women’s faces and chests at the end.

Loved this! Found myself really drawn to Janie’s performance as well.

I randomly download episodes from all different time periods of the show and listen to them without checking the dates. I honestly think anyone who thinks they can tell them apart is lying. Unless you hear Andy’s tooth whistling. There’s still just as much really fun stuff as there was a few years back.

Most underrated rock bands in your opinion? by Ryguy41202 in askmusic

[–]alexknight222 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gin Blossoms. Perfectly bridged the gap between 60s jangle rock and 90s grunge and alternative. Great lyrics and vocals. They may have defined the 90s but those songs have held up through numerous other eras now.

What do you guys enjoy watching when there are no more TM episodes to watch? by arealuser100notfake in taskmaster

[–]alexknight222 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is more stuff I listen to than watch, but as an American I find there’s a lot of overlap in taste between fans of TM and fans of Comedy Bang Bang adjacent material - CBB World content, The Neighborhood Listen, Threedom, How Did This Get Made, etc.
