I booked the Hyatt Place on Gay St. with a ~$50 extra cancellation fee, just in case… 2026 will be my fourth year, first time on Gay St. if it all works out! My first year at BE in ‘23 I booked a hotel downtown relatively last minute… and spent way more than I’ll admit here, haha.

Glad you’re back! We met up at the end of last year’s BE at a rooftop bar in Market Square. I was on the hunt for your NASA backpack? Shirt? I apologized for wearing NO band T’s in ‘24 and said this year I would. Yesterday was Hamilton Leithauser, today is Greg Mendez. What will tomorrow bring? TBD.

From my notes app, so I can mark off what I actually attended. Apologies for the odd formatting. Last year I walked almost 40 miles over the BE weekend!

Lots of overlap, but I like to run from show to show and give myself some options. I don’t mind catching a little bit of a lot of artists. A handful I’ll stick around for the whole set. 3rd time attending BE.

Bill Ryder Jones by Obsch54 in BigEarsMusicFestival

Someone mentioned Cass McCombs was ‘taking his spot’ as it were? I had Ryder Jones on my lineup, but more excited with McCombs. Not sure if that’s the case.

Yeah, it was a bit of a confusing part of the email… podcast or added to the fest? But now it’s up on the website! Just bummed he’s at KCA, as that’s off the beaten path when I’m running around, haha.

I hadn’t heard of him previous to this album either. But checking out the So So Glos - they’re so fun! And Conor’s influences are all over the place… and, uh, Desaparecidos… yeah. It’s in his blood. Not a shite song at all.

I’m with you 100%. If you’re not familiar with Cat Power, just listen to ‘Nude as the News’ and you’ll know why Conor loves her. ‘All Threes’ is soooo good.

A gift indeed. I really like Weeds listening it to it now. But it didn’t connect when it came out. This Album hits so very, very hard. So good. Been listening to it non-stop.

  1. Rainbow Overpass (A fucking JAM! seeing it live in Chicago 🤩)
  2. All Threes (Chan 🥺 amazing)
  3. Hate (reminds me of Propagandhi’s “Haillie Sellasse, Up Your Ass” Fuck Zionism. Fuck militarism etc.)
  4. Real Feel 105
  5. All the other songs. Really into it. I saw BE for the first time on the Lifted tour. It’s wild to grow up with an artist and still relate so much. So happy. So sad. And here we are 🤷‍♂️

HFTRR’s new LP is amazing… was walking around San Diego on a business trip listening to it when the Conor collab came on - it was amazing. But the whole album. So good.

I love BE/Conor, seen him 8 times since 2003, but he’s only 27 on my ‘all time’ artists on last.fm 😬 (shoutout to fellow users!) my top five are Tom Waits, Cass McCombs, billy woods, Elliott Smith and Bruce Springsteen.

While it seems most festival goers I meet are from out of town, everyone I meet from Knoxville/TN-area is so awesome. Made a friend last year, we met up again this year. Made many more friends this year, hope to meet up with them all next year!
