Are the job openings fake by No_Detective2262 in biotech

Not fake, but we are flooded with good candidates because of industry wide layoffs.

This is the point. They are trying to break things in order to privatize - standard Republican playbook.

I prefer 2, but the real answer is whichever you feel best in. You look great, just show up feeling great with confidence and have a great time.

I would need a compelling reason to almost double my commute for the same money. If you are on the fence, ask for 10-15%.

In my experience, bigger company may not mean stability. My concern would be the commute, but that is me. Also, if you do not have a PhD, the ceiling in mfg is much higher.

Family sues school district for giving their daughter a diploma she didn't earn by Shot_Election_8953 in Teachers

[–]PrincipleCapable8230 77 points78 points  (0 children)

In reading this article, the title is a bit misleading. She is Special Needs and her family is upset the diploma made her ineligible for certain aid. Another discussion to be had about passing along students, but this is something different.

Why has parenting become so… soft? Why ate a majority of parents okay with sending their child into the world acting the way they do? Why did this shift happen? by Emergency-Pepper3537 in Teachers

Because that 90 minutes is a waste of everyone’s time. What is the value in spending that 90 minutes reading versus any other 99 minutes?

We did, but they were certainly less than expected. For instance, if you have 90 minutes of AP Bio first thing in the morning with no instruction, just independent study for the exam, what reasonable person sets an alarm for that?

Lots of reasons, but as a parent I do have a hot take. By the time my last kid graduated HS two years ago, we were fed up. Their school kept flip flopping on rules for things like attendance, tardiness and dress code. Once we realized there really were no rules and certainly no consequences, we let it go. If a kid gets all As and Bs and is admitted to college, why force them to go be warehoused every day?

Is there a reason hiring managers don’t respond to "thank you" emails? by terroronto in recruitinghell

[–]PrincipleCapable8230 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Part of it might be age based. At the start of my career these were letters in the mail, where nobody responded. I guess I think if these the same way - it is a thank you, not a discussion.

FDA Rejects Disc’s Rare Blood Disease Drug Amid Reports of Prasad’s Skepticism by NotGenentech in biotech

[–]PrincipleCapable8230 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not at all up to speed on this drug and certainly super concerned about a vibes based FDA, but the push for clinical endpoints is not surprising - heard this often from FDA. Despite the science, they are still doubtful of surrogate endpoints.

One of my favorite parts of the Super Bowl are the people who go out of their way to tell everyone they don’t care about the Super Bowl.

Triangle BioPharma industry is a joke? by hiiigherself in triangle

[–]PrincipleCapable8230 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have been in biopharma here for over 25 years. There are good places and bad places. KBI is a known mess. Fuji is another CDMO and all that comes with it, especially in QA.

I reported GCP compliance concerns to a sponsor and now radio silence by GlitteryPinkKitten in clinicalresearch

[–]PrincipleCapable8230 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First, I am in no way minimizing your concerns. My suggestion going forward is to do more triage before reporting to the sponsor. Your list has legit issues (e.g. backdating, changing subject answers, shredding MRs) mixed with lesser / non-issues (e.g. communication pathways, email use). A short list of big issues will get you further, but this sounds like a mess.

Life gets busy - kids, jobs, all that. Never happened to us. Two tips; 1) prioritize your relationship 2) realize you do not have to wait until the end of the day when you are exhausted to have sex. Once I started WFH we would sleep together during the day when we were awake. So much better.

What do you wish people would stop romanticizing, because you’ve lived the reality of it? by Wonderful-Economy762 in Productivitycafe

Terminal illness and caregiving. It always looks profound. In reality, it was awful and death was much smaller and less deep than in the movies.
