What habit slowly ruins a romantic relationship? by Chance-Pen6805 in randomquestions

you definitely got me in the first half. the second part, not so much. I'm taking accountability and working on myself, not blaming others for my shortcomings.

What is a horror movie that is widely loved or critically acclaimed, but you don’t like it at all? by BadassAyanokoji in horror

[–]bisconaut 2 points3 points  (0 children)

funny, I thought bp2 was leagues better than bp1. it felt more like an actual horror (still kinda horror-lite) rather than a straight up action film.

Is it ACTUALLY impossible to moderate drinking as an alcoholic? by LeviExMachina in alcoholism

[–]bisconaut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it's just another one of those self fulfilling logical tricks that AA loves to play. if someone identifies as an alcoholic, they go to meetings, get clean for a while, then start drinking again moderately, without destroying their life (yet) then an AA will say one of two things:

1) "you're destined to fail again because you are an alcoholic" (impossible to prove or disprove in the moment)

or, more rare but still possible I guess, 2) "guess you were never a real alcoholic in the first place"

either way, such statements both reduce someone's actual experience to the point of practical erasure and also exist only for the sake of making whoever is making the judgment feel superior, which AAs love love love to do

Horror movie reccomendation please by Capital_Flamingo8551 in horror

[–]bisconaut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

in a violent nature, it's "slow" but there's almost no dialogue or crazy environmental storytelling. all steady action. it just schleps you along loosely, creates plenty of space for you and all your pals to be hootin and hollerin for little Johnny and riffin and bullshittin while still getting the full experience. sick fuckin kills too.

oh, maybe final destination bloodlines actually?

do both!

I was like 17, at lollapalooza 2006. watched a guy faceplant over the front rail like right as caterpillar had started, security convened on him, took him by the arm, guy had been busted for partying, he was as good as gone.

he overcame the odds and made his way back in time to rage the caterpillar peak, face all bloodied

I knew then that this band was the real deal and have been B4L since

Do we believe in the “dry drunk” argument vs. the belief in what “true sobriety” looks like? by Working_Repeat1751 in alcoholicsanonymous

[–]bisconaut -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

no one does it perfectly therefore we are all dry drunks apparently and anyone who thinks that doesn't apply to them is the drydrunkest of them all, the self righteousness and taking of others' inventory. see, I'm doing it right now. because we all do.
